drabadur··on Dog Walk: Blender Studio's official game project
The paper objects were unfolded, scanned/photographed, imported into Blender, and mapped onto 3D Models of the objects; no photogrammetry was used afaik.
drabadur··on Ask HN: What cool skill or project interests you, but feels out of reach?
For robotics, I recently came across this course to learn the basics: https://github.com/henki-robotics/robotics_essentials_ros2. Haven't started it yet though.
drabadur··on ‘The country is becoming a desert’: Drought-struck Spain is running out of water
Deforestation is the only major relevant factor that led to the formation of any desert in Spain, and this started a "long" time ago, and is purely and simply controlled by humans. For example, the famous Tabernas desert is the result of deforestation, followed by intensive erosion.
drabadur··on ‘The country is becoming a desert’: Drought-struck Spain is running out of water
The problem of Spain is intense anthropogenic land (mis-)use including deforestation and mining, which led to the desertification especially in the south in the first place; this has been happening since pre-historic times. So, no, there shouldn't be deserts in Spain right now, and they are for the most part not natural. Read further here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S00346... drabadur··on Fix your resume using AI
So what does it actually do? Check if keywords from job description appear in sufficient number in resume?
drabadur··on Ask HN: LastPass Alternatives
I use a KeePass database stored on iCloud, with the KeePassium client on IOS, and the KeePass client on Windows. Works like a charm.
drabadur··on Ask HN: What are your predictions for 2023?
Frightening how many of the predictions for 2022 actually came true. E.g., Russia invading a country, queen dying ...
drabadur··on Ask HN: AI is really exciting but where do I start?
What's so special about Karpathy's youtube channel?

This site also list the main courses that would make sense: https://www.deeplearning.ai/courses/
drabadur··on Dos and Don'ts of Machine Learning in Computer Security [pdf]
Is this a new trend or why is there no publishing date anywhere to be found in this paper?!
drabadur··on Tell HN: Unpaid home assignments are not ok
For Japanese companies, it seems to be common to ask candidates to complete coding assignments before any interview. These assignments are usually extremely complex, and would take maybe 2-3 days to complete, depending on the candidates experience.

Combine this with relatively low salaries even for experienced developers, I don't think it is something anyone should want to do, no matter how much you'd love to go there.

drabadur··on Coronavirus clue? Most cases aboard U.S. aircraft carrier are symptom-free
If people on here are so keen on calculating CFR and not R0 to estimate how bad the virus is, they should also take into account logistic and demographic problems of every area. Hence, the CFR of New York might be so bad because of terrible medical infrastructure in the first place, and additionally patients who are not willing to go to the hospital because of fear of bankrupting themselves. Certainly not saying this virus is "just like the flu" because it is not and it is killing a lot of people. But epidemiologically this is much more complex than all of us are able to understand as non-epidemiologists.

Also, here's are actual estimations of R0: http://www.dkriesel.com/corona

drabadur··on Fear and beauty: two weeks living with Covid-19
Fact is, that when I know when something feels unusual. And when this happened, I had no idea what the Covid symptoms are like. And at the time, I also didn't think that it was this. Only after several people in my community reported the same "symptoms" did I become suspicious.
drabadur··on Fear and beauty: two weeks living with Covid-19
What exactly is this dull chest pain? I've had symptoms of lower chest and back-pain more than a month ago, with a strange feeling of not being able to get sufficient air through my nose as well as seemingly high blood-pressure and heart racing in late afternoons. This all lasted just short of a week, but took a couple of weeks in total until I could say it was gone, with a persistent minor dry cough. No idea if it was Covid but the symptoms sound strangely familiar with what other people experience elsewhere in my community. Could be panic attacks as well, obviously, but it felt strange.
drabadur··on What happened to Mint?
Understandable, thanks for the extensive info! I think this should be included in the lowest paid tier, at the very least. Or disable SMS/phone calls and have people have the option to only use an authenticator app.
drabadur··on What happened to Mint?
Curious to know why MFA is only available in the most expensive category (PRIME)?

It seems like if I don't pay the full amount I don't deserve my budget to be as secure as possible. And this is a no go for me.
