doyouevensunbro··on Doomsday Ships Were Ready to Ride Out Nuclear Armageddon Before Doomsday Planes
A Vault-Tec ship docking after 200 some odd years in a port city sounds like a good idea for a Fallout game. Get on it Bethesda!
doyouevensunbro··on u/DeepFuckingValue and the GameStop Reddit mania
Spite investing? Count me in.
doyouevensunbro··on Dungeon Magazine
Agreed, I would have a subscription in a heartbeat.
doyouevensunbro··on Dungeon Magazine
My parents were caught up in that and assumed that Satan was coming for my soul through D&D and Judas Priest. I didn’t even know who they were at the time, the tracts I had to read told me all about them. Now I am an adult that enjoys D&D and Judas Priest, so mission accomplished Mom!
doyouevensunbro··on Facebook Incubated the Insurrection
For me, when I had a Facebook account, it would show me this kind of content. Not because I agreed with it, but I felt compelled to argue with it. But with their algorithm that counted as engagement. So whenever I logged in I had a wall full of hostile content. It was affecting my mental wellbeing so I just deleted the whole thing and haven’t looked back.
doyouevensunbro··on How Silicon Valley destroyed Parler
The Mercers have billions they could spend on this:

doyouevensunbro··on Jetbrains founders turn billionaires without VC help
No, you have to use Rider for that. That said Rider is fantastic and their Unity support is top notch. Going between Rider for game code and IntelliJ for the backend was a godsend when it happened. Makes my day to day workload manageable.
doyouevensunbro··on Silicon Valley exodus: Bay Area tech companies leaving for Texas
I have known it to happen to friend’s parents that live in New Jersey, as their pension didn’t keep up with the property tax increases. But New Jersey is notorious for their property tax.

I mean, Prop 13 passed specifically because seniors were losing their homes. But in this case the cure was worse than the disease.

doyouevensunbro··on Elon Musk moves to Texas
Sorry, was on mobile and didn't realize! I will fix.
doyouevensunbro··on Elon Musk moves to Texas
Musk made it clear what he thought about worker’s rights when he forced the Tesla plant open during the pandemic:

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-52627744

The modern day robber barons will never care about the working class. It is up to us to look out for ourselves.

doyouevensunbro··on Almost 60 percent of business closures are now permanent, new Yelp data shows
Are there a lot of Great Depression survivors on HN? Here’s hoping they chime in.
doyouevensunbro··on On Apple's Piss-Poor Documentation
It’s because engineers don’t want to write documentation, and if you don’t force it this is the result.
doyouevensunbro··on Amazon Review Scam
Same here. They used a multitude of email addresses so every time I blocked them they eventually used another one and got through. Refunding me 100% of the cost of the USB cable doesn’t replace the port it broke so no thank you. I’d rather people be warned.
doyouevensunbro··on Apple says electronics recycler “illegally” reselling over 100k iPhones, iPads
I’m wondering if you could just engrave into these devices that they were “reclaimed” or “recycled” so that it’s clear that Apple no longer is on the hook but people can still use if they choose to do so.
doyouevensunbro··on Ask HN: Can I not accept Oculus' new ToS?
As far as I understand I can't get back into the Oculus Hub where I bought my VR titles. The VR headset will still work, I just can't use it on software I bought.
doyouevensunbro··on Ask HN: Can I not accept Oculus' new ToS?
Yeah, think that's my only solution as well.
doyouevensunbro··on ARM-Ed Mac: We Have an Answer
Ok I’m not completely crazy, found the article:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tiriasresearch/2017/06/16/intel...

Thanks for clearing that up. Wonder what the difference is that this article mentions.

doyouevensunbro··on ARM-Ed Mac: We Have an Answer
Don’t they still have to deal with the fact that Intel has been vocal about suing anyone doing x86 emulation?
doyouevensunbro··on Self-isolation is feeding my Warhammer addiction
Warning: it is a very expensive hobby to get into. With the complete lack of time I’ve had, I have a box pile of shame that I really should start working on...
doyouevensunbro··on Elvis and other null-safe operators in Java
Discussion I started over at Reddit. Wondering what Hacker News thought about null-safe operators like the Elvis operator in Java.
doyouevensunbro··on How “Exit Traps” Can Make Bash Scripts More Robust and Reliable
Both are great articles. Thanks!
doyouevensunbro··on Visual Studio for Mac Preview
Just move to VSCode and save your sanity (sorry, I'm not a fan of MonoDevelop):

https://code.visualstudio.com/Docs/runtimes/unity

Jetbrains is also working on their C# IDE, hoping it supports Unity soon:

doyouevensunbro··on Closed Source Engines Are a Big Risk
Source is $40k up to 50 seats, and then it jumps to $100k. It's pretty obscene. The worst is that Unity will fight you if you say you need the source, like it's a crazy request.
