The headline is a little misleading. Snowflake is actually going full remote, Coinbase style and saying that they don't have any HQ. But since SEC forces them to have an HQ, they have Bozeman as one, since CEO lives there. I am guessing because he doesn't want to mix with the plebs ?
All of what you said are true. But when you add gun to the mix it makes matters far worse. Gangs in the UK typically resort to stabbing, which leads to far fewer deaths
And all this without having to stop and search some rando black or brown dude walking down the road. This categorically proves that stop and frisk had no impact on crime rates at all. Los Angeles also experienced similarly historically low crime rates and had no stop and frisk. I can’t imagine how someone can live in a liberal democracy and be ok with authoritarian behavior like stop and search.
Honestly, the only places that have grown were already somewhat of a tech hub. I don't think Denver, Portland, Nashville have grown in meaningful terms. Yeah, you see some growth just because the tech companies are worth trillions now, and there will be more crumbs everywhere. But tech hubs that have employees and campuses at scale are places like Seattle, Austin, and NYC. And these already had established tech players prior to the recent boom.
You can easily access SF jobs, but South Bay jobs are harder to get to. But it is no different than living in Oakland or Berkeley when it comes to commute
Ok, I get it. You need to be contrarian and repeat some California is bad talking points. But let’s be honest, life in California is way better than NYC. Nobody sipping Russian river pinot while overlooking Lake Tahoe has said “I wish I was in NYC”
Yeah agreed. I was curious if the median salary was impacted by the bull run, where suddenly engineers who joined a couple of years before the bull run are now disproportionately paid compared to more recent hires
Quick question: does this account for recent massive stock price inflation ? My comp at one of these places matched what you have here early to mid last year, but since then has gone up quite a bit due to the stock market
Isn’t the revenue number kind of misleading ? Essentially it seems like it is the total value of the transaction and their revenue should essentially be the take rate from the transaction.
"Look at what Mayor London Breed of SF just announced yesterday - redistributing $120m in taxpayers’ hard-earned money away from law enforcement and towards a slush fund for “black communities”, in one of the most crime-ridden and unsafe cities in the US (https://www.kqed.org/news/11862094/sf-mayor-breed-unveils-pl...)."
I have worked in a mostly remote company. Eventually everyone just stops going to the office as they are not sure if anyone will be there. Eventually the real estate sits empty and the employer exits it
Well, I guess I won’t be working for Coinbase then. I am probably of the rare breed, who actually likes to go to office (not everyday). I can’t imagine staying home all day everyday basically hopping zoom calls. I hope other companies use office presence as a competitive advantage at this point
Not just the factory, there is both Tesla and Space X HQ in CA. And if you look at careers page for both, overwhelming number of job openings are there. In addition, Tesla has expanded like mad in Fremont and further East Bay. Including owning several warehouses and offices in the region
