dkenyser··on Move in C++ without a std:move
I swear I was staring at these two examples for longer than I care to admit wondering if I was just blind or dumb or both.
dkenyser··on GPU World
This comment is needlessly pedantic. Surely you're able to understand what their implication is.
dkenyser··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
Yeah, this is such a tired lazy response by people and is definitely not true anymore. Spin up a new account on a fresh device on a network I've never been on. Click a random video and scroll. Usually the first 3 or 4 scrolls is porn or someone being killed.

Anyone saying there isn't an insane amount of porn and worse on twitter is either lying or hasn't been on the site since it turned into the cesspool we have today.

dkenyser··on SpaceX stock erases all its gains and slides below IPO price in intraday trading
Yes, it's almost like that's why there _was_ a rule in place to prevent IPOs like this from being shoved down everyone's throats so quickly without further testing.
dkenyser··on Empty Screenings – Finds AMC movie screenings with few or no tickets sold
Interestingly some zip codes just don't seem to work, but this appears to be an issue on AMC's side as I tested the same zip codes on their "find a theater" page and got the same results.

Very cool idea nonetheless.

dkenyser··on Microsoft Edge stores all passwords in memory in clear text, even when unused
Anyone have a link to the source code for this .exe? Would love to see _how_ it's extracting them.
dkenyser··on Men who stare at walls
Yes. I swear every day I see a "new" fad targeted at fixing one's attention and every time they're doing so much mental gymnastics to not use the word "meditation."
dkenyser··on The Claude Code Source Leak: fake tools, frustration regexes, undercover mode
> my first knee-jerk reaction wouldn't be "this is for pretending to be human"...

"Write commit messages as a human developer would — describe only what the code change does."

dkenyser··on Tesla: Failure of the FSD's degradation detection system [pdf]
> clickbait titles that fed political discourse.

Eh, while I agree with you on the permeation of reddit culture on this board, this post is in no way clickbait or political in nature.

In fact, the title of this post is literally copy and pasted from the problem description.

dkenyser··on I haven't used a mouse for 14 years
I'm in the same boat when it comes to gaming. Primarily use a trackball mouse and have used it for some games like World of Warcraft or Path of Exile but a traditional mouse is still king for any FPS game.

I did learn recently that Zowie released an ergonomic version of their mouse that I plan on checking out though. Unfortunately there's just not a ton of options out there for ergonomic gaming mice.

dkenyser··on Ask HN: My family business runs on a 1993-era text-based-UI (TUI). Anybody else?
I immediately think of Terminal Coffee[1].

Been experimenting with charmbracelet's[2] stuff recently to do something similar. Still very early stages so nothing to show off yet but would highly recommend it for anyone else looking into creating a TUI app/business.

dkenyser··on ADS-B Exposed
Interestingly it seems to line up quite well with population density maps.
dkenyser··on ADS-B Exposed
Very cool project.

Little bit of trivia regarding the "strange hole near Mexico City"[1] from the README.

This is a 12-kilometer exclusion zone around the highly active Popocatépetl volcano to prevent incidents stemming from volcanic activity.

dkenyser··on If you are harassed by lasers
My brand new Netgear router I just bought is so bright it's actually blinding if I catch a glimpse late at night so we might not be out of the woods just yet.
dkenyser··on Yet Another TypeSafe and Generic Programming Candidate for C
You do understand people's concern here though right?

Because it seems like you're being purposefully obtuse at this point.

dkenyser··on iPhone dumbphone
To quote someone else in this thread: People live different lives.
dkenyser··on ADHD drug treatment and risk of negative events and outcomes
I had pretty much the exact same experience even with a childhood diagnosis and extensive records indicating I only responded well to stimulant-based medication.

The whole process became so burdensome I just gave up and now I self medicate with Nicotine pouches.

Not proud of it and probably not the best alternative but it helps me focus and keeps me out of the stress of the constant back and forth that healthcare providers put you through.

dkenyser··on Claude says “You're absolutely right!” about everything
Interesting. They don't appear dead for me (and yes I have showdead set).

Edit: Ah, nevermind I should have looked further back, that's my bad. Apparently the user must ave been un-shadowbanned very recently.

dkenyser··on A message from Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan to all company employees
Correction: The right detests regulation on the things they like at that given moment.

If it doesn't affect them directly, or they can't perceive how it will affect them directly, they simply do not care.

dkenyser··on Psilocybin treatment extends cellular lifespan, improves survival of aged mice
Eh, for me eating them alone can make the experience last upwards of 8-12 hours.

Meanwhile using the lemon tek the experience is consistently around 4 hours in length.

For me, this is the ideal trip length. I'm very rarely looking to spend my entire day tripping.

dkenyser··on Psilocybin treatment extends cellular lifespan, improves survival of aged mice
Look up lemontek. Drastically shortens the experience, makes it much more consistent and the lemon juice overwhelms the flavor of the mushrooms.
dkenyser··on To be a better programmer, write little proofs in your head
This reminds me of reading Accelerated C++ back in the day and I think the part that stuck with me most from that book was the idea of "holding the invariant in your head" (I'm paraphrasing a bit).

It made me think a lot more about every line of code I wrote and definitely helped me become a better programmer.

dkenyser··on People are just as bad as my LLMs
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like we're splitting hairs here.

> spits out chunks of words in an order that parrots some of their training data.

So, if the data was created by humans then how is that different from "emulating human behavior?"

Genuinely curious as this is my rough interpretation as well.

dkenyser··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
Oh they have to be more specific while you provide absolutely zero evidence for any of your claims?
dkenyser··on Show HN: I built an app to stop me doomscrolling by touching grass
This gave me a good chortle. Thanks.
dkenyser··on DOGE 'Audits': A Mask for Corruption, Not Efficiency
While clever, this is just flat out not true. Many (if not all) of the early SpaceX employees did indeed have backgrounds in aerospace and mechanical engineering.
dkenyser··on Tesla Cybertruck Drives Itself into a Pole, Owner Says 'Thank You Tesla'
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/trump-...

I couldn't find anything suggesting this has been put in place yet though.

dkenyser··on Tesla Cybertruck Drives Itself into a Pole, Owner Says 'Thank You Tesla'
I'm assuming OP is suggesting that Tesla needs to test these conditions, not the end user on a public road where innocent lives are at risk...

I could be wrong though.
