Mine has been going on 4 years now with zero issues with the camera (ZWO 178MC). The acrylic domes however are a hot mess. Frequently have to replace them. Really need to find high quality glass domes preferably with anti-reflective coating.
https://github.com/aaronwmorris/indi-allsky is far superior all sky software. Also supports basically running the software on any linux based system not just a pi. Have mine running on an odroid.
Complexity for the developer and simplicity for the user had been an underlying mantra in macOS development for decades. Only in the past 10 years or so has there been a lot of effort to try and also simplify the developer side.
People seem to have forgotten (or simply have no clue) how all the previous SpaceX projects worked. Also seem to be ignoring the fact they are by far the most successful launch company today so I think they know what they are doing.
What evidence do you have it almost blew up at launchpad? That most likely was concrete chunks flying off away from the rocket and nothing with the rocket itself. You really don't seem to have a grasp what was trying to be done or how any of the previous SpaceX rocket programs functioned.
Meanwhile in Minnesota the largest nuclear plant in the state shut down for repairs because it had been leaking radioactive water into the ground. They also didn't inform the public for months after it was discovered.
Our company tried that and was huge waste of time. Resulted in us wasting a lot of time trying to make our stuff "generic" so we could switch off of AWS if we ever wanted to. Eventually 1+ years later someone finally realized how much time we were wasting designing for some hypothetical event that they finally told us to stop doing that and fully utilize AWS directly.
I thought it was interesting because it shows what other companies are doing for their employees that have been there for 10 years. This was a big topic at a previous company I worked at who had employees getting close to their 10 year mark and it looks like that previous company is just going to let those employees options expire and screw them over.
Another example of people not taking into account the full life cycle of the products they purchase. Vinyl chloride was one of the main toxic chemicals dumped in this derailment and it is used to make PVC. You might want to think twice about using vinyl siding, windows, flooring, etc..
Yes, they burn the gas straight off all of the fracking wells. Having been there at night it literally looks like you are in hell with flames in all directions from horizon to horizon.
Yes, I've personally been there. It is all the fracking and oil companies being allowed to simply burn off all the excess gas coming out of the wells in order to get the "more valuable" oil. They could invest in small pipelines to transport the gas from the wells to be processed and sold but they don't care. It literally looks like a war zone with flames shooting out of the ground in every direction from horizon to horizon in that area. I don't know how people can even live there.
This is common misconception about what "light pollution" actually is. It is about the proper arrangement of light fixtures so that the light points towards the ground and not horizontally or up into the sky.
Because there are huge flames of gas being burned off from fracking because it is cheaper for the oil companies to waste the gas in order to get the oil. Total and complete waste. Canada does not allow burning off of gas from fracking wells like that but the US does.
I've seen parts of southern Iowa where there is zero top soil left. There are many hilly areas around there and resulted in the exposed top soil from "traditional" row crop farming easily washing away in heavy rains. It should never have been farmed to begin with. Once it became unusable for row crop farming they just put cattle on it which causes even more erosion. Because the ground is mostly only clay now any rain easily causes flooding. The best part is where a lot of the farmers there dump all their trash in the ravines (tires, appliances, household garbage, etc) that are formed from all the erosion to create some form of "erosion control".
