degosuke··on Lessons you will learn living in a snowy place
Any recommendations about the boots? Or what to check for?
degosuke··on Helium Browser
And Vivaldi also supports MV2 extensions - so uBlock origin still works without any issues.
degosuke··on Denuvo Analysis
Wasn't there a story on HN about a GTA San Andreas bug that was caused by this? (or something very similar)
degosuke··on Show HN: Defuddle, an HTML-to-Markdown alternative to Readability
I use LogSeq a lot - and having the option to scrape a website with only the text in MD seems like a great fit.
degosuke··on Show HN: Dia, an open-weights TTS model for generating realistic dialogue
It even added an extra f-word at the end. Still veeery impressive
degosuke··on Visualizing 13M Bluesky users
I'm not up to speed. Are there currently any instances where free speech was limited on x/twitter? Genuinely curious
degosuke··on The Simple Guide to Building and Breaking Habits
Is the webarchive snapshot complete?

I saw people in the comments referencing 4-6 habits but I don't see it in the snapshot. EDIT: nvm found it in the text.

degosuke··on Show HN: Learn Blender shortcuts with lots of tiny videos
Great idea! For better retention maybe it can be done as an anki deck?
degosuke··on Ask HN: How do you go about finding a job?
Got it... So it wasn't like a step in the process: Hey, by the way give us your X/FB/reddit handles?
degosuke··on Ask HN: How do you go about finding a job?
Do you think it might be a good idea to keep or your social accounts private? Or it's mandatory to reveal it during recruiting?
degosuke··on Anki – Powerful, intelligent flash cards
This is very helpful. Thank you. So in a way these are like practice cards and not only memory cards.
degosuke··on Anki – Powerful, intelligent flash cards
I was just wondering how to apply anki for learning guitar tabs. Can you please share a sample of one of your piano cards?
degosuke··on Stanisław Lem's vision of artificial life
When I read it for the first time many years ago it left a deep impression. And as others mentioned in this thread, reading it again recently I found new things that I didn't understand the first time. A bit sad, disillusioning but just kind of resonating with deeper truth.
degosuke··on Choose the browser that best suits your privacy needs
But if vivaldi is based on chromium doesn't that mean that the same Chrome problems will apply?
degosuke··on Mermaid Cheat Sheet
Only thing that I'd love implemented is the ability to add links on sequence diagrams (probably also on other types, but it's the one I currently try to transition from diagram.io).

What I found very helpful is to add a sequence diagram and add inline links to logs for the given endpoints.

degosuke··on I tricked myself into working out 3 times per week
As I recall it was around 18-19%. And I did some years of strength training before that. The quality ranged from couple of weeks of good ones to months of almost nothing. So to answer I'd say somewhere in between.
degosuke··on I tricked myself into working out 3 times per week
I used a pair of calipers (3 point measure) and it was around 12-13 % body fat. But I can't be sure I don't have access to any machines (dexa as I recall). But it was totally doable, and seemed maintainable...
degosuke··on I tricked myself into working out 3 times per week
I did a version of this to achieve the holy 6pack grail. My wife held me accountable - I just had to stick to daily limit of calories (adjusted over time) and that's it. Around 7 months work. Then when I "finished" I couldn't stabilize the habit and am still stumbling at around 19 % body fat... I guess it's time to dust off this method.
degosuke··on Why do you waste so much time on the internet?
Worked only partially for me. I still go to aggregate sites and just browse when I'm bored (or anxious, or both).
degosuke··on A simple system I’m using to stay in touch with hundreds of people
What I tried some time ago, was putting people as projects in my trello board (I had it set up as a GTD board with a separate column for Projects). And each time I did a review I wrote a comment like: "Didn't do anything recently" or "Seen last weekend, X and Y was lot of fun". And when I felt it was time to reach out I did - if not it waited for the next review.
degosuke··on Multiple Sclerosis Causality
The link returns 404.
degosuke··on Google outage – resolved
Anyone else has this in the technical details? Numeric Code: 7444
degosuke··on Bongo Cat
Agreed.

Very fun 2452 997 2452 775 2452 57421175 Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up
degosuke··on Tim Sweeney on Apple and Google
Thank you for introducing me to this podcast. Truly a valuable one.
degosuke··on Jim Lehrer’s Rules of Journalism
I wonder whether the improvements in machine learning would ever be sufficient, so that for an article we could generate a quick report of how many points from the list are "checked".
degosuke··on Philosophy of Ghost in the Shell (2012)
For those who are wondering why it's no longer on wikipedia: "Non-encyclopedic content; a personal essay, a hotchpotch of fan speculation and original research."
degosuke··on Things that are illegal to build in most American cities now
I'm on edge whether the title is sensationalized or not... It does state the fact that it is illegal to do these. I would even see it as a better reflection of the current status then perhaps stating "Urban regulations prevent building these types of buildings."
degosuke··on Sweet Home 3D is a free interior design application
Previously I've used SketchUp for these kind of things - the free version does a good enough job and the library of objects is really great. Does anyone know how these 2 compare? (If not, and someone is interested I might be tempted)
degosuke··on Getting Started with API Testing by Using TestMace
Does anyone have any experience how this compares to soap UI?
