deely3··on US prosecutors recommend Justice Department criminally charge Boeing
Sometime feeling of hopelessness become a force.
deely3··on visionOS thermally throttles based on how much it hears the fans in the mics
Oh, that makes sense. As well as a fact that screaming on a pc will make it work quicker.
deely3··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
How? Real people read all millions of pages of internet texts to verify it?
deely3··on Mozilla silently bans 2 anti-state-censorship add-ons in Russia
> Clearly we have different priorities and I've failed to convince you.

Im not sure that we should support one "not the best" company just because other company definitely worse.

deely3··on Mozilla silently bans 2 anti-state-censorship add-ons in Russia
I don't know honestly. I don't like what Mozilla is doing with Firefox, and I'm not sure that we should support it.

I have good expirience with Vivaldi. Yes, Chromium based, but very-very customizable, a bit slower than other browser, again because of customizations, but in general it looks like they believe that user know what he/she is doing.
deely3··on Google to shut down Google One VPN on June 20
> We promise to forward your email for 5 years.”

More like 18 months.

Personally I feel like Google kills are more brutal and abrupt. For example MS killed Movie Maker, but you can still use it if you have it installed. Google killed service - and there nothing you can do with it.
deely3··on Windows AI feature that screenshots everything labeled a security 'disaster'
I like the idea of Recall. But its a Microsoft with 'lets hide/remove these settings from user' bullshit, so...

> the feature is enabled by default when you set up a new Copilot Plus PC, and there is no option to disable it during the setup process

deely3··on Ex-OpenAI board member provides her first detailed account of CEO ouster
Huh, its Roko's Basilisk all along
deely3··on Anonymous Source Shared Leaked Google Search API Documents

> Omit internet tropes.

deely3··on Google's AI-generated search results keep citing The Onion
Its a prediction (with hint of joking) about how LLM models use memes and other internet texts for a training.
deely3··on Scandal at America's top science fair
> Many of the children putting out incredibly advanced research, beyond their capacity, are benefiting from their parents’ expertise, or friends of family, or access to labs, and such.

Do we have a solution for this, and do we need a solution? Lets go nuts, lets go hyperbolic: should we ban kids from learning from their parents?

deely3··on Avoidance of sun exposure as a risk factor for major causes of death (2016)
Thats very unorthodox claim, no?
deely3··on ChatGPT-4o vs. Math
> You can easily use the OpenAI API with the temp=0 and a predefined seed and you'll get very deterministic results

Does that mean that in this situation OpenAI will always answer wrongly for the same question?

deely3··on Parking reform legalized most of the new homes in Buffalo and Seattle (2023)
Bigger salary and bigger perspectives and mainly: choice.

> Why do people live so far away from work? Because of cars.

And this is a good thing, or bad?

deely3··on A low budget consumer hardware espionage implant (2018)

If I understand you correctly.. You don't need to pay, and these archives can be scheduled to be created automatically, you just have to download them and store on a service of your choice.

deely3··on Did GitHub Copilot increase my productivity?
Huh, for me its always vice versa.

When I'm not sure in the someones code I have to double or triple check it be sure that I understand it correctly and to verify that there no somehow hidden missed steps or side effects.

deely3··on Garbage Collectors Are Scary
Did we started judging language by some libraries written in that language?

Also, where did you encounter this exception? Im really curious.

deely3··on The Time I Lied to the CTO and Saved the Day
> The devs who were worked to the bone, but don’t worry I gave them a week off?

Thats the part that piss me off the most. What devs get from this? Feeling of "pride and accomplishment" and burnout?

> And we hit our dates in January, went live with a great launch, and were rock stars for a bit. Maybe more like Herman’s Hermits than The Beatles. But it still felt good.

Thats the part where "we" definitely means "me".

deely3··on Show HN: I built a website to share files and messages without any server
Could you please name these implementations?
deely3··on Car manufacturers break promise about sharing location data with police
Cynic in me: so, if law enforcement requests list of 47-hours periods its all fine then? And what about not real-time records, all history of driving is available for free then.
deely3··on A Paradigm Shift in RAM
Every tech around us was lab experiment once.
deely3··on Tesla driver arrested for homicide after running over motorcyclist on Autopilot
What about this current incident? In your opinion?
deely3··on Tesla driver arrested for homicide after running over motorcyclist on Autopilot
Do you agree that without "autopilot" this incident would not have happened?
deely3··on Android 15 may make it harder for sideloaded apps to get sensitive permissions
I have, first you have to click "yes" on a modal dialog that blocks screen completely when you start the app, then you have to check checkbox "yes, I agree" and then click ok, then you have to change some hidden settings, then this settings "accidentally" reverts on each update... until they remove it completely. Microsoft, Google, Apple wants more and more control as usual.
