A Paradigm Shift in RAM

only on HN do I frequently read comments about being upset with the spacing, formatting, font, layout, etc of articles.
I find it interesting. Nobody on reddit ever makes that comment. Maybe it's because a lot of you come from STEM academic backgrounds.
I read the whole article on my phone and wasnt bothered at all by the experience.
This would, in theory, remove the limitations of signaling via copper or the like, which produces the limiting speeds of current RAM implementations.
Yes light is electromagnetic but electromagnetism is also part of the electroweak force.
Whether something is electronic, photonic or harnesses the weak force depends on where the majority of the interaction is. Photons don’t interact with the magnetic force but electrons which do generate photons when they change energy state.
You can use a photon to excite an electron which would have electromagnetic effects but it’s not typically what you’d use to induce magentism.
Eg. If I asked you to magnetize something you’d use a magnet or electromagnet and not a flash light.
