There is a wonderful IRC-based Pirates adaptation called PiratesIRC https://piratesirc.com

It's just modern book burning. The contents don't even matter, you will never see the text and images in these books again.

If old.reddit dies, I leave. It's just another step into the grave.... That's about all that should be said.

End it.

Make reselling tickets illegal again overall.

Allow resale within 5 days of the show only (for those that genuinely can't make it), and for face value+original fees only.

It's not just excess bandwidth. It's cpu cycles, poor site coding, database issues. Like I said, not everything is backed by a huge company that has the money/hardware/engineering resources to absorb the load.

This is really unacceptable folks. There are those of us that have to keep these sites up, and it's seriously been a few years of nightmare scrapers and botnets, and stupid things like this that you are trying to legitimize that will make this worse. If a site doesn't want you, you should go away. There's a reason for it. Not every website is backed by a billion/trillion dollar company with the resources to absorb things.

This is exactly what I was hoping for to knock Bambu down a few notches.... Definitely makes Prusa an even better contender in the space.

WCMesh in California covers a few hundred miles of southern California on Meshcore.... That isn't flat. It really just depends on buy-in in the local region.

Happy pass user for ~8 years now, have ~1300 passwords stored. No issues whatsoever. Use git to sync it across devices, totally awesome.

Apparently someone has recreated it.

Pirates IRC is based on Sid Meier's Pirates to an extent. If you're still on IRC, it's worth playing. https://www.piratesirc.com/

Yes, revalue gold. No, do not buy bitcoin with it.

Absolutely, ms365 too. Definitely a worthwhile tool, and if you have a big job or do it more than once a year you should purchase it.

OK, that's fucking awesome. Thanks

This discussion helped me discover my new favorite map. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Peirce_Quincuncial_Projec...

Real-ID is such a farce. I have had an ID since I was 15, and presented my birth certificate and ssn as a minor to do so. There is no instance where I am not "real".

I have a US Passport that took less effort and paperwork to get than a Real-ID. I will never submit.

Ahh cool, now r-studio brings up this instead of the 24 year old data recovery program.... :-(

For what it's worth, we're trying to do a lot of our server upgrades with the Elevate scripting to Almalinux, but man can it be a pain. We have a 30% success rate in testing, and even when it goes right it tends to be 2-3 hours of downtime. The alternative though is to rebuild every server on spare hardware and manually migrate data and configurations over. So it's still a better option once we can figure it out. I'm hoping to get downtime <1hr and >90% success rate before we start really pushing through these by April.

Yeah, cause we want to stick with the crummiest blockchain that repeatedly rewards the select few and never manages gas fees right....

We shouldn't have to. These companies are fucking ridiculous and blanket ban entire swaths of the internet from sending email.

I always said when this whole body cam business started years ago that everyone is going to be real fucking upset when they get live facial recognition on these things. Be careful what you wish for.

It's as simple as consolidation... If there is only 1 or even 2 companies in an industry, both are probably shitheads, and it doesn't pay to be the loss leader, otherwise you may end up gobbled up, you both grab what you can while possible.

I'm not sure why you keep saying this as if it makes the fact that they lied about the most recent breach any better.

If we had high speed rail, areas along the rail line would be better suited to have people live along the route, and distributing housing affordability across a larger area. See the Shinkansen in Japan as a good example. https://hir.harvard.edu/high-speed-rail-affordable-housing/

This is hilarious, but I am genuinely concerned about Goldman Sachs dropping Apple and the cc and savings account ending up with a shittier bank.

Funny how it completely ignores the fact that covid sent everything to hell, and bureaucratic crap caused funding to not even be dispersed for over 2 years after passage. Of course programs that you judge based on an imaginary 3 year timeline will fail when they have only had maybe 8 months to do anything.

Ubuntu died for me when I upgraded to a new LTS and they replaced my deb firefox install with a snap version that used some non-standard mouse cursor.... Only in firefox. It apparently took them ~2 weeks to fix it, but in that time I rage-wiped by ubuntu install and switched to linux mint, which I also regret, but is snap free.
