cyphersanctus··on What is a fan worth to you?
Hmm, couldn't go past the first question because it maxes out at 1MM.
cyphersanctus··on Ask HN: Which web hosting provider should I use?
A very inexpensive and reliable option is Bluehost.com Their support is quite good. Have used them for 7 years. I handle a lot of traffic, more than 500k page views per month.
cyphersanctus··on The YC VC Program
Good point. Thanks.
cyphersanctus··on The YC VC Program
Pg, are there really many ugly ducklings on demo day, despite the rigorous selection and the subsequent teaching/incubation process?
cyphersanctus··on On 81st birthday, Oregon man gives company to employees (2010)
Beautiful.
cyphersanctus··on No More Contests
Well, that "popularity contest" not only comes down to how big a company is. Its a good measure of how marketing savvy your company is. As a growth hacker, i use many different free channels and mediums to help the small guys reach more people. Perhaps you could take this experience as a reason to think about getting your team better instructed in these growth issues, or maybe consider hiring one who already has experience of the sort.
cyphersanctus··on Raided 9-Year-Old Pirate Bay Girl Came To Save Us All
"Because the public are angry, politicians will be nervous too, and uncooperative politicians are bad news for tougher copyright law. But in the short term anyone sent a “pay-up-or-else” letter from CIAPC (if they even dare to send any more) will be thinking long and hard about paying. The chances of the police coming next time must be slimmer than last week.

And the fact that they will be able to thank a child for that is why this is some of the best news all year."

cyphersanctus··on Megaupload shutdown hurt box office revenues for non-blockbuster movies
Link to the academic paper. "Piracy and Movie Revenues: Evidence from Megaupload" http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2176246
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Indeed, there's definitely a market for such an email service. Then again who knows how much they'd be willing to pay for it. To have a manned service like that might be difficult to bootstrap.
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Its definitely possible. Though usually that kind of massive traffic can be monetized in different, more creative ways than general banner ads.
cyphersanctus··on Gangnam Style Becomes World’s Most Watched Video With 1 Billion Views in Sight
Youtube's user base or the general internet's user base? It might also have to do with an increase in the general internet population of third world countries where this song got its initial traction.
cyphersanctus··on Gangnam Style Becomes World’s Most Watched Video With 1 Billion Views in Sight
Funny how proportions are lost. They're assuming the billion views yet they're still 200 million views away. There was a time not so long ago, when Avril Lavigne and the Evolution of Dance battled themselves out fiercely to reach 200 million views. Clickbots, fanclubs and all.
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Haha "hormonal predisposition". Suave.. Heh
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Ill start doing that. Just in case.
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Hehe do you lose your passwords quite often? Perhaps you could try remembering Them..
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Very true. With this particular project, the actual substance is what is very difficult to find. It will also be very difficult to project the right sense of security to the seller of the info.
cyphersanctus··on The future of the self-driving electric car.
Very interesting. This is certainly something that we will be seeing in the nearby future. I wouldn't see a need for specific parking lots. What would be needed would be a car lane on certain streets where those self driving electric cars could cruise at low speeds.
cyphersanctus··on The Startup Genome report
Well, Berlin doesn't seem to have a high rate of loud sounding startups world wide. And the ones who do sound are not much in comparison to the loud ones coming from SV. Then again the startup ecosystem is so dynamic in Berlin, and so much buzz is being generated, that I'm pretty sure that soon enough great things will start to spring.
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Well, I remember once needing to use that function to recover a password I had forgotten. If i hadn't put real information as an answer to the question, I'm not sure how I would have been capable of answering it..
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
Sounds like a great weekend project. Relatively simple to code, would definitely be covered by some tech blogs.
cyphersanctus··on The man who hacked Hollywood
True, though he probably meant it in a sarcastic way, like "clearly everyone wanted to see a naked Scarlett."
cyphersanctus··on The Beards of Silicon Valley
The social media coordinator one could play a part in 'Gangs of New York'.
cyphersanctus··on The Beards of Silicon Valley
Anyone sporting the "cofounder who left pre-IPO" one?
cyphersanctus··on Microsoft is developing a Google Glass competitor
Thats the best video I've seen in a while. Thanks for sharing hehe.
cyphersanctus··on Microsoft is developing a Google Glass competitor
True, then again the temptation for them to start feeding you personalized real time ads, were your whole life is their ad canvas, might be too great to resist. Lets wait and see.
cyphersanctus··on Microsoft is developing a Google Glass competitor
Lol, frightening indeed. My bad.
cyphersanctus··on Microsoft is developing a Google Glass competitor
Hehe, I suppose that wont be hard in the nearby future (25 years). The glasses could have neuro-censors that would be in constant contact with key parts of both sides of the brain.
cyphersanctus··on Microsoft is developing a Google Glass competitor
And the lenses would be installed into any glasses or how do you envision it?
cyphersanctus··on Hacking Growth
Interesting, but i'd call all that good usability instead of growth hacking. They go hand in hand, yet by applying those tips you don't necessarily impact the reach of your product. Correct me if im wrong please.
cyphersanctus··on Guess what the most wanted christmas present will be...
I use a cover that works quite well. I always use the ipad sideways, so that the keyboard is bigger and the format of the pages is good. Its not great for responding to emails but it works. For reading them its perfect. I love it very much, then again im sure it will become better over time. I have the autocorrection disabled because I write emails and messages in various languages.
