I have to use opus or it can't even do basic changes.
ctack··on Quantified evidence: Sonnet 4.6 quality regression
I can't tell if it's real or not - I don't have the data, but it certainly feels different using it.
ctack··on Honda is killing its EVs
I think you've captured it perfectly with "Maybe it's daily reminder that all the luxuries are right here, right under your fingers, if only you weren't so miserably poor?"

The enshitification of the car.

It’s possible they also see the storm coming and are too scared to do anything either.

ctack··on Why today's humanoids won't learn dexterity
That makes sense. Even in the Pullman book there were natural roadways for rolling.
ctack··on Want more friends? A better social life? Be like my 85-year-old buddy Gerry
Certainly brightened my day. “Bro, do you even friend?”
ctack··on Why today's humanoids won't learn dexterity
There are lizards or beetles that tumble down sand dunes.

Maybe cartwheeling humans could lead to some adaptation where the whole body becomes the wheel.

ctack··on Why today's humanoids won't learn dexterity
In one of Philip Pullmans His Dark Material novels there is a race of creatures that have a symbiosis with a tree whose huge perfectly round nut can be grasped by their fore and hind limbs and they roll around that way.
ctack··on EPA plans to stop collecting greenhouse gas emission data from most polluters
Am trying to see a silver lining here.

Dirtier air, sicker people. More profits for big polluters. Why vote for this?

“Insane” is probably a bit strong
ctack··on “No Tax on Tips” Includes Digital Creators, Too
Living in rural Spain service is chill. Am used to it by now. Went to an upmarket restaurant in France other day and it took me ages to realise the waiter was vibing me the whole meal for a tip. Such a weird transactional space. Person literally smiling and being agreeable for money. Insane.
ctack··on You Need to See Epstein's Birthday Book for Yourself
It’s interesting how silent the world seems to be on this. Like it’s it’s just a big nothing burger.

How did covid allow a respite?
ctack··on Bit Tech squares off with EU regulators
Harrowing to think this is part of a drive to promote far right values through misinformation and where it’s coming from.
ctack··on Bit Tech squares off with EU regulators
If big tech gets it’s way and the Digital Services Act goes away, Europe could answer that with a massive media literacy education drive.
ctack··on Germany tightens travel advice to US after three citizens detained
It’s the kind of thing I think about before going to China or if I were to visit NKorea. But hasn’t this possibility of hardcore border harassment been a feature of visiting the land of the free (the US that is) for a while now? Phones confiscated and inspected etc..
ctack··on US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s
@dang - why flagged?
ctack··on US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s
Edit: no disagreement or flagging, just poof, gone. Likely someone knows how to make unwanted conversations go away on platforms like HN.
ctack··on US Ends Support For Ukrainian F-16s
Suspicious that it’s not on the front page.
ctack··on David Lynch has died
Blue Velvet. Twin Peaks. Lost Highway..

No words, just a feeling somewhere between waking and dreaming.

ctack··on Immorality Begins at 40 (2016)
Also came expecting something entirely different.
ctack··on Boeing Starliner launches first crewed mission
Am sure you could make the argument that misleading FSD have killed a bunch of people.
ctack··on Amazon lobbyists to be barred from European parliament
It is a positive example but in a way it proves the opposite point doesn’t it? That a worthy cause got overlooked for 5 years because the lobbyists weren’t rich enough to buy their way more quickly…
ctack··on We Know How Ancient Roman Concrete Was Made
Imagine this used in 3D printed houses. Some kind of hot nozzle - sounds like a 3D printer scaled up.
ctack··on We Know How Ancient Roman Concrete Was Made
Shortened the title from: We Finally Know How Ancient Roman Concrete Was Able to Last Thousands of Years.
ctack··on The Growing Peril of National Conservatism
I like the take of this article and think it’s well written. Basically liberalism should be doing more.
