consonants··on Store owner installs surveillance cameras to spy on police
Cop killers are heros.
consonants··on Here’s who probably did that $150 million Bitcoin transaction
Yes, because the motivations behind money laundering are driven almost exclusively by crime. For purchases you wish to remain private, such as personally embarrassing products, there are 'anonymizing' but traceable services for you to save face with.

There are very few legitimate reasons to be concealing where you money came from or is going from the IRS, and they well aware of the intent behind the actions.

consonants··on Here’s who probably did that $150 million Bitcoin transaction
Money laundering is the process of concealing sources of money. If the IRS found out Western Union was trying to cover it's tracks of who sent/received money they would be investigated immediately. Laundering implies you have something to hide, most likely tax dollars or ill-received profits.

Please stop interjecting with your vested interest as if it trumps anyone else's valid concerns.
consonants··on NSA infected 50,000 computer networks with malicious software
Given the US's covert and not so covert operations in Latin America, this comes as no surprise. Just because our goons are aren't over there making sure our economic interests are enforced doesn't mean we gave up on our stronghold.
consonants··on North Korean Central News Agency server logs protected by client-side JavaScript
Yup, a whole lineage is either dead or in a prison camp for making a mockery of Juche networking.
consonants··on Why we look at job applicants' Github or 'What's your excuse?'
BaynesianWitch - The company that used the word 'tranny' in an A/B tested public statement intended to incite and offend their audience. Stay classy, BaynesianWitch.
consonants··on YouTube Shoots Google in Foot, Publishers Suffer Collateral Damage
Try a different adblocker that isn't being paid by Google to whitelist their ads. Try different blocklists, and for the real scummy domains I use a host redirect through my firewall.
consonants··on YouTube Shoots Google in Foot, Publishers Suffer Collateral Damage
Then do it so we can find another way around it.
consonants··on Feds say Silk Road suspect’s computer shows he (thought he) plotted 6 murders
Well, you see, terrorists..
consonants··on Feds say Silk Road suspect’s computer shows he (thought he) plotted 6 murders
It's the feds. They faked the hit.
consonants··on Pencil
Obnoxious is more like it.
consonants··on Dropbox Could Be A Bargain At An $8 Billion Valuation
A bigger threat would be Amazon competing with Dropbox, not some passive-aggressive slight.
consonants··on Polygon's PlayStation 4 Review
That's a really obnoxious page for such a little amount of content.
consonants··on Docker on Raspberry Pi
This will make things easy to use docker on my Exynos board, last time I tried it there was no ARM compatibility.
consonants··on The Problem with Altcoins
The problem with Altcoins is that they prove to be a perceivable threat to Bitcoin true believers and the perceived long-term value of their holdings.
consonants··on UK spies continue “quantum insert” attack via LinkedIn, Slashdot pages
High value targets exchanging high value information on a network with high value activity.
consonants··on Is It O.K. to Kill Cyclists?
You're on your own if you're involved in an accident while riding a bike.
consonants··on Silk Road 2.0 Launches
I try to avoid anything that would bring the bitcoin crowd out, or I might have an aneurysm.
consonants··on Silk Road 2.0 Launches
Maybe I should clarify: it's one of the most directly irresponsible things I've seen unironically suggested here.

If you don't see the irresponsibility of implicating an unknowing third-party in a serious life ruining felony, I don't know what to tell you.

Given that this is most likely filled with vendors who are either agents or guys who have been popped and are now confidential informants, your statistics are way off.

consonants··on Silk Road 2.0 Launches
Seriously? You don't think that sending a schedule I substance to an unknowing stranger through the mail and across state lines isn't irresponsible? Are you going to valiantly turn yourself in if your neighbors get raided?

If you get drugs shipped to your house, they will charge and probably convict you. Doesn't mean it would hold up in an appeal, but why would you risk an innocent's life, freedom, finances, and social standing just to order drugs off the internet?

consonants··on Silk Road 2.0 Launches
This is one of the most irresponsible things I've ever read.
consonants··on Collaborative effort to analyze the Adobe passwords dump
Hey guys let's all be co-conspirators in a planning and engaging in felonious activity on a public website.
consonants··on After traffic stop, man forced to have x-ray, enema, anal probes and colonoscopy
Sadism.
consonants··on Man compelled by police to undergo surgical procedure to "search for drugs"
If anyone is going to go down, it will be the doctors. The cops that went out of their way to anally violate a suspect will walk away, and absurd search warrants will continue to be issued on a flimsy notions.

The same search warrants that end up with your dog getting shot and possibly anyone else who might raise the slightest suspicion of being a threat to them in their midnight raid of your home.

consonants··on The Logic of “Stupid” Poor People
I'd wager it's the same reasoning people buy new cars or new consumer electronics.
consonants··on Cash to the poor: Giving money directly works surprisingly well
Gubbamint is keeping the hungry from these bushels of bread not fit for human consumption, why can't they see the harm they're doing? Isn't bad food better than nothing?

>realizing that something done poorly is better than nothing and requiring something better leads to nothing

Oh my god you actually typed it.

Or we can adequately fund our social programs so that they are held to a certain standard and don't depend on the whims of the middle and upper classes.

consonants··on Cash to the poor: Giving money directly works surprisingly well
>It would be quite a bit less draconian than the government simply confiscating the money.

Oh, the irony.

consonants··on Is Ad Avoidance a Problem?
I may just be paranoid, but I'm convinced that when wearable passive cameras (glass) are culturally acceptable the first thing Google et al will be pushing for is an option to "pop in", and analyze your environment.

Imagine you could see through the eyes of your customer interacting with your brand or a competitor's. Imagine being able to see how your customers shop, what they're eating today, and more importantly a view of their network from their eyes.

It doesn't have to be that creepy, merely an agreement to let Google collect information while you shop based on GPS data seems innocent enough.

Advertising will get more insidious, someone convince me I'm wrong please (I'm being sincere, I don't want to hate technology).

consonants··on DMCA takedown on GPL-copyrighted code
Stop trying to defend yourself on the internet, follow through with the DCMA notice, and file a civil suit for libel.

I'm saying this because if you muddy the waters now it just taints things for when this goes to court.
