Do you realize stock price is still well below the highs? How are the shareholders winners here?
I've been through two of them, things get crazier.
It's an utterly laughable statement. Not surprised it upset a few worshipers of the Tech Overlords. Apple, the billionaires it produced and the people it employs should be grateful to the rest of society.
At least some of the onus is on you to be more discriminate with whom you share your data. As the sibling says, assume the worst.
It's fun to expound about "how things should be" but sometimes you have to deal with "how things actually are".
That is not privacy, it's security. Are you implying that Facebook and Google don't take security seriously?
Which is utterly cringeworthy.
iPhone user thinks iPhone is best thing since sliced bread. News at 11.
Below is a list 1000+ cryptocurrencies, 99.9% of which no one has heard of, many of which have lost 90%+ of their value in a matter of months.
Most of the cryptocurrencies out there have lost that much value since January.
If this model could make money, they'd be doing it.
Terrestrial radio economics are such that when you tune-in (which far fewer people do nowadays) you want to hear "that new song you like".
If the tech world turns their back on Bloomberg, I'll give them more credibility; not less.
Of course not. The Valley runs on greed.

Oh, it's grand to read these sorts of comments from one of the most righteous communities now that the scandal is in their backyard.
Yeah, who cares if the guy signing your paycheck is hiring death squads to murder journalists! My photo app deserves to sell for millions!
Yep, the SV crowd thinks they're the enlightened ones, saving the planet. Between billion dollar valuations based on blood-money, the massive financial inequality and the state surveillance apparatus they built to put us in, I doubt the proletariat think too fondly of the place.
This implies that "traditional" VC couldn't get high risk stuff funded, but SA can. That has no basis in history or reality.
Playing what up? The fact that Silicon Valley and their new "hey, just stay private!" mentality was heavily funded by blood/oil money?
Is this actually news to people that Saudi Arabia has done terrible things? Or does it only matter now that there's been a scandal?
Well, thank God for the scandal, then.
I love that "fake news" is now a license to disbelieve any story that doesn't fit with your personal beliefs. There was fake news one time, now everything is under suspicion.
And it's not like Big Tech has ever misled people on this subject.
What sort of extremes do you expect to see in age data for starting a business?
There will be no 10 years olds, and likely no 90 years olds.
>But in this "research", there are far more data to unpack.
Why the quotations? Do you not believe this is research? This is a 1000 word summary of their work; do you think these researchers, from some of the best schools on the planet, didn't consider the sorts of questions you pose?
Would you mind recommending a couple of your favorites in both the theoretical and applied?
Already an insider within the company. You think anyone actually wants to deal with Musk?
How about taking your superiority complex elsewhere? I'm willing to bet that 90% of the HN audience uses reddit in some capacity.
Would it shock you to learn that there are other communities on the internet that have great discussion? Some even make fun of HackerNews for the misperception that the discourse here is superior.
Hey look, it's the guy who shows up every year to point out a technicality that no one cares about. Thanks!
This is so common now it's an SMBC meme.
Good old HN: 1 out of 200 people in the population have an IQ of 140+, but half the people in this thread do.
Can't wait for the ironic "But HackerNews is filled with such smart people!" comments.
I'm not sure "in the works" is correct.
Although they were founded around the same time, reddit is older as a social media platform than YouTube. I'd say the reddit demographic is those around ~30 years old, give or take a few years. I don't think young people/teenagers use it as a "go to" (like I do).
All this is to say, I'm not sure if there's a growth story here. My bet would be on stagnation.
