This is not brain rot, it is a good thing. I am glad Einstein focused on physics and not every single interesting thing that popped up.
HF was.. a hub to download models and some of the worst source code in the space that contributed to huge amounts bugs that did a lot of downstream damage. Go ahead and read their blog by their CTO on how they don’t believe in DRY and then implemented DRY in the worst way imaginable with unnecessary code generation.
Their BLOOM model was a joke and dead on arrival.
But yea these guys are definitely going to be the frontier of EU AI.
How can you honestly tell this young man not to cheat and get ahead when the president does it regularly? We’re a spiritually dead country and the youth is reflecting it. Don’t use Lee as the scapegoat.
Most smart people I know don’t like toy leetcode problems, they like real problems which are orders of magnitude harder and not solvable by LLMs. Leetcode is for people who got good grades and want to feel smart by learning the rote tricks to solve leetcode.
What does working at a hyper scaler have to do with the rest of the post? Do you want to mention your total comp or height while you’re at it?
To be less tongue-in-cheek, your logic is flawed. We simply have too many hard problems than we do smart people, unfortunately.
And the ones we do have seem to like optimizing comfort over risk, such as taking cush consultancy positions.
They think communication, alignment, gathering requirements, and other political bullshit is the hard part because they have never actually solved or had to grapple with a truly hard problem.
That’s fine, but it shows the corporate programmer who is probably in meetings all day has a vastly different reality than those of us who have had to solve open problems with no solution written somewhere because there is none.
Now they don’t even let you have that.

How would you feel if someone showed up to your class, were asked to leave because they didn’t pay tuition, and then gave you a bad performance review because of it- and that review actually mattered and stuck with you?
