chris24··on Interactive Resume
This actually happened. The site's unavailable now.
chris24··on Dropbox - Transparency Report
It does not. Further down the page, they link to a document [1] that states that they would be required to report NSRs and law enforcement requests (combined) in ranges of 1,000, if they wanted to include the NSRs.

chris24··on Ask HN: Can we stop linking to subscriber only content?
10 articles per month, yeah.
chris24··on Lunr.js - Simple full-text search in your browser
Wrong thread?
chris24··on Apple’s Deleting iCloud Emails That Contain The Phrase 'Barely Legal Teens'
iCloud's free* now, actually. It became a free service when they transitioned away from the MobileMe branding.

* You need a Mac or iOS device to join, though. And you can pay for additional storage if you want ($20, $40, or $100 per year), but that's not necessary.

chris24··on Twitter Hacked – 250,000 User Accounts Potentially Compromised
The Twitter API exposes a user's ID. Some Twitter clients (like Tweetbot) show this information. You can use http://mytwitterid.com/ to find yours.
chris24··on Quitting LinkedIn
You're not the only one - I also initially thought this was going to be about a LinkedIn employee quitting.
chris24··on Tenth Grade Tech Trends
When I was in tenth grade I'd just use my dad's credit card.
chris24··on Google acquires BufferBox (YC S12)
FWIW, they were charging $3/package for their initial launch at UWaterloo, and people were actually paying for it. You're right - probably not enough people for it to be feasible, but yeah, even some of us ('poor' students) were paying for it.
chris24··on Wingman: Git + GitHub + OS X
$29 is a small price to pay to increase your productivity.
chris24··on Apple script resizes iPad banner and pushes Samsung verdict out of view
Most likely not. Apple generally does not redirect people to their locale-specific version of their site. I'm in Canada, and I can visit apple.com without being redirected to apple.ca, for instance.
chris24··on SeenBefore: A search engine for what you have seen before
How does your system define "porn sites"? What about if it was some porn site no one has ever heard of with an innocent-sounding name/domain?
chris24··on Stripe in Canada
There's no license.
chris24··on Guy Points a Gun at Google Streetview Car
Is there really much of an expectation of privacy on a front porch though?
chris24··on I can't make this stuff up
This story reminds me of that recent Mac genius ad with the sketchy computer salesman.
chris24··on Google Maps now has schedules for 1 million public transit stops
It must depend on the data they're given. I can see bus lines in Toronto, but not in Waterloo, ON, for example.
chris24··on App.net funded with $500,000.
My understanding is that yes, identica and app.net are similar, except for their business models. Identica didn't have a clear business model (AFAIK), so they would likely resort to advertising. App.net is trying to avoid that by charging users directly.
chris24··on Show HN: JSON5 — modern JSON
The license was a nice touch.
chris24··on Pagination 101
Using the left/right keys is a great idea, but you'd have to have some clever way of making users aware of it.

You'd also have to come up with a solution that works on devices that don't necessarily have a keyboard available at all times (on iOS, for instance).

chris24··on Yahoo Axis
Are authoritative answers like those still being posted on Y! Answers these days though? Craig's answer was from 6 years ago.
chris24··on Meet the tireless entrepreneur who squatted at AOL
From that one statement alone, I suddenly have a lot more respect for AOL. That was hilarious.
chris24··on Show HN: I made $8000 in one day on the Mac App Store
I was just about to say... I guess that's to keep people's hopes up.
chris24··on Show HN: I made $8000 in one day on the Mac App Store
Or the developer might have to spend more time on support now.
chris24··on IAmA a malware coder and botnet operator, AMA
I've found that most Canadian retailers seem to support chip cards now.
chris24··on IAmA a malware coder and botnet operator, AMA
I've only used VbV once or twice, years ago. Do they still use iframes? I've never understood why they try to make the site more "secure" by using these services, but then use an iframe so the average user can't easily confirm if the login screen is legit or not.
chris24··on Ask HN: What web services do you pay for?
Just Rdio at the moment.
chris24··on “Why I Declined An Offer To Work At Instagram” Via Quora
Yes, Quora actually does allow that unless the user who posted the content marks it as not for reproduction. More info here: http://www.quora.com/Quora-Policies-and-Guidelines/How-can-m....
chris24··on Facebook's numbers
$1.7M in living expenses, not $29M.
chris24··on Facebook unveils Groups for Schools
We've been using this at Waterloo for a couple of months now. It's a nice new feature, but one issue is that we already have some huge groups (textbook/housing/class-of groups) from before that cannot be moved into Groups at Waterloo.
chris24··on Photo check deposits
PayPal isn't a bank per-se.
