chadwittman··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2026)
applyapply | REMOTE (US) or Austin, TX | Full-time | https://applyapply.xyz

I'm building applyapply — it runs a serious job search overnight: matching roles, tailored resumes, cover notes, and answers so applications take minutes instead of hours. Live product. https://applyapply.xyz

Hiring two founding roles:

1) Founding Engineer — $140–170k + meaningful founding equity Own the product end-to-end: sourcing, resume-per-posting pipeline, Chrome extension, reliability. Full-stack + LLM/API work. Bias to ship; keep candidate achievements intact (no bland rewrites). Apply: https://applyapply.xyz/jobs/founding-engineer

2) Founding Growth — $110–140k + meaningful founding equity Own how people find applyapply: channels, content, experiments, conversion. Partner with eng on the product surfaces that drive adoption. You've grown a consumer/prosumer product (or built something that spread without a big brand budget). Apply: https://applyapply.xyz/jobs/founding-growth

Both: remote US preferred, Austin OK.

Currently an AI powered golf club fitter: https://eldrick.golf

The amount of fine tuning we've put into the model has been incredible. Starting to rival human multi-decade professionals in custom club fitting.

Feels like this will be how all human-tool interaction fitting will go.

chadwittman··on Show HN: I fixed journaling for myself
I built an app like this & raised a respectable pre-seed round for it. tl;dr journaling types were into it, but already had a journaling process. Regular people would use it for a week or so & then stop. tbh (app) had flash-in-the-pan success with the concept, but did it via simple one-tap survey. Might be a tbh 2.0 approach here.

Amazing comment, this is wild. Thank you for sharing this!
chadwittman··on Space colonies of the future as imagined by NASA in the 1970s
This feels like it would be an amazing concept for a RTS or turn-based strategy game.
chadwittman··on Show HN: Document and automate your operations playbooks and business processes
Super excited to try this out. I've been hoping for a tool in this space for awhile.

chadwittman··on The “bugs are 100x more expensive to fix in production” study might not exist
Stories are nearly equal in convincing someone to believe you. Just look at US Politics right now to see that we live in a post-truth society that strongly values narrative.

chadwittman··on Beyond “Fermi’s Paradox” XVI: What Is the “Dark Forest” Hypothesis?
It's a common proposed solution to the Great Filter idea.

We're a startup in private beta, launching shortly. We're the SparkNotes of the internet, starting with tech. We're looking for a Researcher to join our team to help with summarizing the best content on the internet. The most important skill is able to synthesize long-form content into its' key points. No prior experience necessary, just an appetite to learn and working understanding of the tech space.

If you want to get a sense of our summaries, check out our free text-based repo here: https://fathom.community

Contact: chad[at]fathom.audio

chadwittman··on Roam repo of summarized best startup knowledge
I'm working on building a repo for the best startup knowledge, but summarized. All tagged & linked to start build out a better knowledge base broadly. Would love feedback about the concept + any additional sources we should add or summarize.
chadwittman··on Show HN: Persona – Async Clubhouse built on questions
Still in beta, but hoping to get more feedback on what we're building. It's a social audio space built around questions. We believe that where Google+ missed with circles was requiring a lot of up-front work. We flip this by using questions as the structure and then allow users to opt-in to topics with people they follow.

Would love to get constructive criticism on what we've built & what people think we should improve/add/remove.

chadwittman··on Ask HN: Show me your half baked project
I'd call it 2/3rds baked; but doing nba + tech questions w/ friends via 30 second takes. Would love a couple of thoughts / feedback on playing around with it. A lot of features, but still refining core experience dramatically: https://trypersona.com/feed (check out on mobile)
chadwittman··on Laser fusion reactor approaches ‘burning plasma’ milestone

chadwittman··on Airbnb Pulled Back from the Brink
I'm not commenting on the specific valuation, but I think you're looking at their valuation without probabilities priced in.

A $30b valuation is a very rational valuation if you assessed there was a 50% chance of a $0 valuation and a 50% chance of a $60b valuation.

chadwittman··on Social Cooling (2017)
100% agreed with this and trying a vastly different approach. Still early, but the idea is to merge people and topics while doing this through a question engine to invite everyone into the conversation... instead of just the loud & ego driven voices. Looking for beta testers right now, starting with NBA, NFL, Fantasy Football, & Tech for the early topic categories. If you're interested, let me know: https://trypersona.com
chadwittman··on Why ‘Civilization’ is a political masterpiece
It's incredible, especially if you have a bit of time to put into it. I'd recommend Civ IV or Civ V with all of the expansion packs.
chadwittman··on Why ‘Civilization’ is a political masterpiece
Honestly, they are all delightful. My personal recommendation would be to start with Civ III or Civ IV depending on your preference for graphics.

If time is limited, get Civ IV and buy all of the expansion packs play on Settler with advisors on and you'll learn it quickly.

They are all learning based, with that effect being slightly less as the series has aged... but still great games through and through.

chadwittman··on How you 'attach' to people may explain a lot about your inner life
Your comment regarding your intellect and the conscious part of your mind only controlling about 20% - 30% of you is super interesting. I'd love to hear more specifically what made you come to that conclusion, as I've experienced a similar insight. Mine came from an overdose of marijuana ironically enough, but it gave me just enough perception of the feeling of two minds. I don't think I'll ever forget that experience.

FB is the new cigarette.

But it's the 1940s & we're being told by big tobacco that maybe all of these symptoms aren't correlated.

Narrator: They were.

I'm trying to build something new from the ground up using a pull-based model + intimate groups of people you care about. Would love early beta testers that are parents of young ones: https://trypersona.com
