I think it's worth it but YMMV.
Furthermore there's a host of smaller stuff that you need to take care of. Liability ensurance, pension, health insurance, bookkeeping, separate bank account, and sending a time sheet and bill every month.
When I brew my beer, I need to look at the environmental temperature. I can't stick the thermometer in the beer because it'll be contaminated. So I put a thermometer in a glass of water which I place next to the beer vat.
I'd expect you'd have to put that BME280 in a small metal oven, or submerge in a volume of oil or water. It'll screw up the barometer probably.
It's a style which suits me, and gives an added motivation. Note that if the work itself is extremely boring, this still doesn't make it all hunky-dory. There must be a balance here.
Personally, I like the smaller-sized projects where the iOS part can be done either by myself or with another team member. This way, I have enough overview to wrap up the project in a decent time and look for another if it's not to my liking.

No, said a senior, we're just going to fix the bug, no rewriting. I said that's your call, but I sure am not going to fix that bug. I can tell you: nobody listened to me.
So he more or less finished the discussion and said: I'm going to sit down with you, and we're going to fix that bug. And we did.
At that point it was the right call.
However this proves to be very hard, at least here in The Netherlands. If the boot camp comes with some sort of job guarantee, it might be worth it.
"DriverKit provides a fully modernized replacement for IOKit to create device drivers. System extensions and drivers built with DriverKit run in user space, where they can’t compromise the security or stability of macOS."
I get it, I also experience some reticience when adding free/bare functions in Swift. But maybe it's because of 15 years of OOP programming.
In the past, I've been in talks with an employer about a job, and my enthousiasm was only so-so, and that tended to put a brake on the proceedings.
