capex··on Waymo released a 360-degree VR representation of what its robocar sees
AI drivers also react much faster than humans.
capex··on Show HN: My embarrassing personal website from the 90s
The 'Sign Up' button got me. I thought I was signing up to your blog's subscription or something.

capex··on Why Personas Fail
Personas give you a context for what A would do when B. It's that decision by A that's valuable for the business.
capex··on Bitcoin Futures Start with a Bang as Rally Trips Circuit Breaker
Or, just a regular day in the massively manipulated futures trading market...
capex··on Min – A smarter web browser
Flat UI is not "flat", please read up on the topic.
capex··on Min – A smarter web browser
Design is highly subjective, but from the designer's eye, there is no comparison between the two sites.
capex··on Min – A smarter web browser
Its not the flatness, its lack of design. See for example, https://www.sail.com.au/, which is flat too, but with a cohesive design.
capex··on Ask HN: Xray cost – USA $200 (13000 INR), India 1000 INR – what causes 10x diff?
A Big Mac in India costs $2.76 USD vs $5 in US. See the Big Mac Index [1]

capex··on Apple Scales Back Its Ambitions for a Self-Driving Car
I wonder if Apple would consider building a driver-less RV. That's something they could do really well.
capex··on Percentage of Europeans Who Are Willing to Fight a War for Their Country
Having spent 9 years in the military, I can say with some confidence that even soldiers are not willing to fight a war. War is evil. No one looks forward to it (except the generals). But when its thrust upon you, you rise up to the occasion and defend your motherland.
capex··on Digital coins may be on the verge of going mainstream
'International' exists outside of EU. Actually most of the problems mentioned above belong to the vast majority of people outside the developed west.
capex··on Want to Be Happy? Buy More Takeout and Hire a Maid, Study Suggests
Gandhi had a particular fascination with toileting. I read in a biography that the first question he'd ask anyone in the morning was 'Have you had your bowel movements yet?"
capex··on After big layoffs SoundCloud founder says its strategy is to ‘take back control’
I thought Soundcloud would truly become the 'Youtube of Audio'. But it seems to be trying to do too many things. Right now, there is no place on the internet where I could search a keyword and find relevant podcasts about a topic. Why can't Soundcloud do that? Just be the Youtube of podcasts, leave the music part to others.
capex··on Tesla's Long-Awaited, Lower-Priced Model 3 to Arrive Friday
There are some unofficial photos of the interior [1]. Its severely lacking, with a large screen just tacked on to the dashboard with no interface whatsoever. Musk says model 3 will be a smaller, less advanced version of the flagship S [2].

capex··on Ask HN: Open source projects that need UI/UX help?
Your article highlights some of the key issues faced in this context, by both developers and designers. Fauxflake seems to be a completely developer oriented project, so there would probably be a marginal benefit from UX applied to it (of course docs and tutorials would make a difference). I think projects like Audacity that are meant to be used by the layman, probably stand to gain the highest with better design.
capex··on Ask HN: Open source projects that need UI/UX help?
Agreed, but do you reckon its worth the effort to ask system programmers whether or not they'd be willing to accept UX contributions?
capex··on Ask HN: Open source projects that need UI/UX help?
Thanks! I find Bootstrap to be one of the shining examples of great UX in open source projects. Their UI, documentation and overall experience is probably in the top 1% of all projects. I am looking for projects like Audacity and Calibre that really need a bit of UX work done.
capex··on Show HN: Monica, an open-source CRM to manage friends and family
Great idea, but I would've much preferred a mobile app for this, which could sync my contacts automatically, log my calls to each contact and let me enter notes. The desktop app seems good but seems like a lot of work for the user.
capex··on India Is Winning Its War on Human Waste
There is a cultural/ religious myth in the sub-continent that fresh, fast-flowing water is always safe to drink. This might have contributed to the failure of this leap.
capex··on Thousands of deadly U.S. military airstrikes have gone unreported
There's a documentary on Netflix[0] that might explain why all the 'extra' sorties are needed. Provocation? Seeding? Who knows, but its an interesting connection.

capex··on Show HN: Q8, an In-Browser VM for Learning and Visualizing Bytecode Programming
Seems like a great project! Can this be used alongside the NAND to Tetris project[0] for understanding low level programming?

capex··on Amazon Sells Out of Echo Speakers in Midst of Holiday Rush
I like your sense of entitlement, but most of these devices are novelty stuff. You shouldn't expect your macbook or wifi router to not work 5% of the time, but I guess you could live a happy life with wireless speakers, light switches and bluetooth connections work 95% of the time.
capex··on Milking the iPhone
> Watch screens are too small for anything but displaying simplistic stuff, let alone letting the user meaningfully and fluidly control the device.

I wonder if you've seen the rotating bezel of Samsung gear s3 in action, it might change your mind. But the watch UI is not the bottleneck, the constant wearing of a watch is.

capex··on Show HN: Embed HN comments in your website
Seems like a great idea! Just yesterday I created hn-comments[1], a collection of great comments made on HN. Can I embed a single comment as well? Edited for clarity.

Refreshing to see the lorem ipsum replaced with something meaningful.
