Might be better to offer several "easter eggs" instead of one jack pot. If people have been searching for it for decades to no avail then I'm not exactly inspired to go look for it either. A string of discoveries would get me more excited, even if the value was much less.
FB is in decline irrespective of the bad press. I hosted a party this weekend and used a FB event to invite everybody and many people never even saw the invite because they don't have FB on their phone anymore. I might start sending text message invites or emails going forward. Even though they own instagram, they monetize FB much better so a decline in FB is damaging to the business. Other properties like WhatsApp, Oculus and Messenger are still are in the early stages of monetization.
Not necessarily. Dating apps like Tinder that are focused on hookups have much lower paid subscriber numbers relative to apps focused on relationships.
The problem I have with this is that job applications are one of the only instances where I use real data for my personal information (besides when dealing with heavily regulated industries like banks). So now Facebook is collecting treasure troves of data on people via this job application tool.
I didn't buy my place for the investment although I'm confident it's going to work out just fine from a financial stand point. I did it for the personal utility that comes with improved quality of life and satisfaction from having a place that I can customize and not have a landlord that I have to stress about kicking me out and / or raising rent. The after-tax all-in cost is about the same as what it would cost to rent out the place that I bought so I don't see how it is such a "lousy investment".
This is fake news. Comparing Tesla sales to the X6 doesn't make any sense since that's a very niche product that BMW sells. I understand it's the most similar BMW from a design standpoint, but it's probably their lowest volume model. The most comparable would be the 5 series.
I'm under thirty and bought a place in San Francisco this year using my own savings from my paychecks. No, I'm not being crushed by my mortgage either. It's definitely achievable, just need to work hard and save your money. Costs are higher here but wages are almost much higher than anywhere else so it's not as terrible as it seems. The Mercury News publishes this same article every 5 years despite home prices continuing to push higher over the long-term.
Most obvious example is when an enterprise software / hardware startup will have superior product than bigco in their space. However, bigco sales & marketing budget and status quo stop the startup from gaining enough traction for success.
