Maybe this the best place to ask this.
Unfortunately I've ended up supporting application and not actually coding so during interviews I can't get past technical parts. I feel very embarrassed by my lack of technical abilities. Anyone else had this issue? How did you rise above it?
I have to agree stop using companies with shitty ethics. It's hard at first but over time most of the issues will be resolved.
I feel the same about Facebook, people bitch about them endlessly but won't stop using WhatsApp or Instagram.
I am surprised that this article gotten any up votes. I once commented "if it was a country like Iran we would have called it terrorism" on an post that effectively said "country X did y" my account was banned on here due to down votes and reports.
In my mind this post is saying a similar thing.
We have different labels for when we do Vs when someone else does it.
Reading some of the comments here has really made me feel better. I felt like I was the only one that felt JS ecosystem is just bad and painful to work with. Thanks everyone.
This line of thinking comes from buying into the narrative that America (and west) is by definition good and so their activities are fine no matter what. They hack and steal data, we are ok with it. It's extremely dangerous.
Stock prices are not always rational. I'm not sure why. But one of the contributing factor could be things like ETFs where stocks were bought to track a particular sector or index regardless of their financials. (I'm just guessing, I don't have a financial background)
Thanks for this tutorial and everyone else that posted some great tips and links.
I find myself needing to use awk once in a blue moon and every time it eats a lot of my time. I hope I remember your tutorial next time I need it.
Is there a point of having support forums if you're not going to have official replies to the questions posted.
To me that just shows that no one cares about the product.
Selecting where to put a nuclear plant is mostly restricted by politics. "Not in my back yard" is a political issue, not an engineering one.
Another point to consider, is that today's engineering is much safer than in Fukushima days.
It's important to point out Fukushima was supposed to be decommissioned long time before it's accident. Unfortunately they had to keep it going as there was nothing to take it's place to generate the energy needed.
This is such a great point. No modern "democratic" government will risk nuclear development. It's far too scary to general population. Even if they do some how invest in nuclear technology, no one would want it in their back yard.
Indeed. I have come to the conclusion that any values that people hold, like human rights, religion, etc, etc; will eventually become something that politians will use to build a narrative with.
It always fascinates me to read comments like this in here. Because it shows quite clearly that we all buy into narratives pushed by states.
This post says that only winner of democracy in middle east is a fundamentalist religious governments.
This is totally untrue. For example Iran, which was way more religious in 1950s managed to establish a secular democracy.
It was the foreign intervention that derailed it. The same people who derailed the very democracy then pushed the idea that middle east is not suitable for democracy.
