Road and trail running are just different sports and require such a high level of specialization at the very top that crossover is far from trivial. Kilian is still a better road or track runner than 99.999%, but he is very far from being world class in those disciplines. Flat running requires a more refined stride, better foot speed, slightly different muscles compared to going up and down steep trails. Top level track/road runners do not tend to do trail races during their peak years (there is much less money in trail/ultra than track/road), but ones who are just below then do not automatically win trail races.
Agreed, but that still doesn't mean that and app should ever have the query the contents of the clipboard. The OS could send a message to the app with the contents of the clipboard when the user presses CTRL-V.
Why does a website or app even need access to the clipboard? I would maybe naively think that the OS could send the characters on the clipboard as if they were typed quickly, end of story.
The usual reason: there are factors taken into account that the Federal Government would not want you to see. For example whether it is a Rep or Dem state, or if there is a close election coming up for governor or senate.
As somebody who usually sleeps well, I'd love to have a dumb app that notes when the last time I put my phone down and the first time I pick it up in the morning. Maybe with an option to tell it how long I think it took to fall asleep.
Does something like this exist?
This might be a noob question, but what is the right way to listen to podcasts on Spotify? They recently bought the company that produces half of the podcasts I listen to, Gimlet, so I wanted to see if it was a better experience using them. I devoted 5 minutes to it, but so far I wasn't able to figure out the basics, like subscribing to podcasts and seeing what's in the queue to listen to.
Their billing tools are notoriously poor. Just yesterday they confirmed for me that Cost Explorer only has access to data going back 12 months, so good luck trying to do year over year comparisons.
Thank you for the reply. Can you explain how "provide" works in your first sentence? How does the .com TLD server know who registered google.com ? Seems like TLD servers still have to know the list of possible registrars where one can register a domain for their TLD.
The part I don't fully get is how TLD servers, like .com work. Do they have a list of registrar DNS servers defined, and they ask them if somebody wants to resolve a domain they do not know about?
There is no elite field in ultras, only in big road races. Look at the PR-s for the elite guys here: https://www.baa.org/john-hancock-announces-2019-boston-marat... . The slowest one has a 2:13 which is below women's world record and 6 minutes faster than any of the elite women.
You have a much more generous definition of elite. To me elite is somebody who has a chance to win in any race regardless of who else shows up to compete. By that definition Courtney is an elite woman, but I do not believe that she would have a chance to win UTMB overall, or Moab 240 if all the best men showed up.
You're putting words in my mouth. Let's say elite men are top 5 overall at UTMB; that's why I asked you to give me odds for women making it there.
But please prove me wrong by answering my question directly. Which race had an elite field of men that she beat. Not just one runner, because by that definition I have beaten sub 2:05 marathoners who DNF-ed.
Is it Moab 240 that you're referring to? Tell me which of the men she beat was elite.
Courtney had a great race at Western States last year and dominated the women's field, but she was 12th OA and almost 3 hours slower than the OA winner.
Courtney Dauwalter is my favorite runner, but the races where she dominated men were really not the most competitive ones. The theory I read says that difference between the sexes gets less as the distance increases, but even in the marathon there is over a 10% difference between women's and men's world records. Or take UTMB, the most competitive ultra out there taking about 24 hours to finish. The women's winner was 33rd and 41st overall the last couple of years.
