blitzo··on Show HN: Open-source private home security camera system (end-to-end encryption)
I'm curious about the Yocto based OS. Can you tell us about the architecture? How small the LOC is and how much customization has been done if it based from existing stacks?
blitzo··on Motorola phones have started hijacking the Amazon app to insert affiliate codes
Isn't this cookie stuffing? Same modus operandi using by Geo-something widget back in 2000s with hidden ebay affiliate links that got caught by FBI. Someone should go in jail for this.
blitzo··on Codeberg Reaches 300k Projects
I always wonder what GitHub has that Codeberg doesn't. It's a shame this isn't as popular. It seems like developers, of all people, are willingly letting their code be AI piggybacked.
blitzo··on Launch HN: Societies.io (YC W25) – AI simulations of your target audience
Exactly my concerns as well. If we're indeed heading toward “ask AI first, humans later” model there's potential for a slippery slope—one that could be exploited depending on which regime happens to be in power. If politicians or special-interest groups can manipulate or curate AI-generated “opinions,” they could present those biased outputs as if they were genuine reflections of their constituents’ views. Over time, the line between authentic public sentiment and engineered AI propaganda could blur, undermining informed democratic debate.
blitzo··on Nvidia Becomes First Company to Reach $4T Market Cap
If China finally figured out how to make whatever machines ASML does, that the sell signal for NVDA.
blitzo··on Ask HN: How to Make Friendster Great?

blitzo··on Tell HN: John Friel my father, internet pioneer and creator of QModem, has died
Hey Friel Family, I just wanted to reach out and say how sorry I am to hear about John’s passing. I didn’t know him or his work, but it’s clear he made a significant impact on many lives. Losing someone who has touched so many people is never easy. Even though I’m a stranger, I hope you find some comfort in the memories you shared and the love that surrounds you during this tough time. Sending you all my best wishes and support.
blitzo··on OpenAI pulls Johansson soundalike Sky’s voice from ChatGPT
They know what they're doing. No way this is not intentional. It's work and they got free publicity.
blitzo··on British engineering giant Arup revealed as $25M deepfake scam victim
We need new ident protocol just for AI. I think that's part of Altman doing that orb thingy with iris scanner. It's creepy though and I'll never touch that things.
blitzo··on Brazil Is on the Brink
I'm not familiar with politics in Brazil but aren't the last guy that run the country some called him Brazil's Trump? From what I'm hear that guy is worst than the current guy which is from my perspective seems moderate. Any Brazilian care to clarify objectively?

blitzo··on Our Universe Could Emerge as a Hologram
Ah, the beauty of a powerful mind. As our high school dropouts are setting in their labs adding lithium from used cell phone batteries and Sudafed from wherever they can get it to cook a batch of methamphetamine for some quick cash, our most esteemed scientist are setting in their labs adding zeros from “zeroes unlimited” and “fuzzy” words from “scientific thesaurus” to cook up another grant for some quick cash.

After rereading the above paragraph I thought it to be too negative, but then I thought, “If indeed this is only a projection of a 2D reality then 3D movies are not really in 3D and I just paid way too much for the popcorn”.

blitzo··on Nokia phones sent identifiable data to Chinese server
It is kind of ironic for me to think my perception of Android as same as Windows as major malware distributor despite it is based on Linux. Android is now fast becoming Windows XP of mobile.
blitzo··on Launch HN: AmpUp (YC W19) – A reservable electric car charging network
The problem still is the charging time. EV occupied the space longer than a gas car does refill. Until we reached the technology where the batteries can be charged in seconds, 'drive EV as effortlessly as driving a gas car' is a bit of overstatement i think.
blitzo··on Launch HN: Modern Labor (YC W19) – Paying People to Learn to Code

blitzo··on Pitching Your Startup
I'm interested about this bit:

If you are too early-stage to have functioning software, mockups will at least let you show that you have good design and product sense.

I want to know if this is really the case here. I have a feeling that YC only accept established working prototype, not just mere interactive mockup that look plausible.

Can somebody vouch in a mere mockup application that has been accepted?

Win-win for both parties.

blitzo··on Show HN: MovieChat.org – Archive and Replacement for IMDb Message Boards
What most user's annoyed the most is years of profile status now gone. If you could somehow managed to get profile verification in sync that would do wonder.
