No, you are Danny Devito. Here eat a snickers.
blangk··on Show HN: Booklet – Async forums as an alternative to chat
Categorisation tends to be better. And each post tends to compete in a page view of all posts, versus a stream of things in many cases.
blangk··on Texas paid Bitcoin miner more than $31M to cut energy usage
Why should it only work one way? Aren't there subsidies across many industries in attempt to align common good?
blangk··on Texas paid Bitcoin miner more than $31M to cut energy usage
Care to elaborate on that?
blangk··on Ask vs. Guess Culture
They would have Dutch passports and be Dutch citizens, yes. And if they live there for long enough they would take on the culture. But let me ask you this. If you breed a German Shepard, with a German Shepherd anywhere in the world, what do you get?
blangk··on Downloading a video should be “fair use” as recording a song from the radio
Or share them on soulseek libraries
blangk··on What happened in this GPT-3 conversation?
I tend to agree with the sentiment here, but reading the output made me think of disorders like schizophrenia, which is to say sometimes humans enter this mode too.
blangk··on Kelly Rowland couldn't have used the =HYPERLINK() function to message Nelly
Are you sure about that?
blangk··on Aurora Store Accounts Blocked by Google
For those affected, I just tested, and there was a Signal update available which successfully completed. Perhaps updates for existing / old users will continue to work? Fingers crossed
blangk··on Writing summaries is more important than reading more books
Not sure about this one but something like Atlas Shrugged seems to half fit. Its a novel but it more or less describes a philosophy.
blangk··on DJI Inspire 3: new 8k cinema drone
Writing off subjective assessments of modes of art as 'haters' seems like something a true hater might do. If you admit there is a qualitative difference then it seems obvious there would be mixed opinions about the different modes. Latest isn't always greatest.
blangk··on Monster Energy Goes After Indie Dev for Using the Word 'Monster'
Didn't the brand line Polo takes its inspiration from the sport though, given the logo?
blangk··on Half of Black High School Students in the Bay Area Can Barely Read
Seems like a bit of an overreaction
blangk··on Dots Will Be Connected
Everyone does. That's why its such a popular tactic, but trust is so hard. That is the reason for transparency.
blangk··on Let Teenagers Sleep
I agree mostly with your points, but what they describe is the 'schooling system' and not an education system. Its the Prussian model or the industrial age factory model of education.
blangk··on Intel Launches $699 Core I9-13900KS, the First 6 GHz CPU: Available Now
Yes, definitely. Many FPS gamers as a matter of visual advantage wish to run their FPS game at the highest possible framerate, or at least as fast as their display. This usually means 144-300+ fps. And it needs to be pegged at a consistent rate (so even in the most graphically intense moments). Achieving this even on low settings and with a high end GPU is not always possible, and a high end CPU and high end RAM are required to be consistent, especially for 1440p and 4k.
blangk··on 2022 was the year of Linux on the Desktop?
Mint or manjaro
blangk··on 2022 was the year of Linux on the Desktop?
I think you have some serious rose tinted glasses on if you are positing that these fixing OS bug scenarios are limited to Linux and do not also commonly occur on proprietary OS. The QA on Microsoft releases has been awful in recent years.
blangk··on Spotify CEO renews attack on Apple after Musk's salvo
True, but Google's own implementation of Android in the Pixel does allow you to re sign the bootloader so you can install your own OS and securely boot to it. And "Android" isn't all the same. It's a broad and shared ecosystem.
blangk··on The fall of Sam Bankman-Fried is crypto’s Enron moment
I was involved in the very early Bitcoin days, and it started for me as something else to do with lots of spare GPU cycles, then I started learning about the underlying tech, which I thought was quite an elegant solution for p2p trustless ledger. I still think it is.

I have not been involved for a long time though, as the original feelings I got from those early days and the community back then seems to have changed completely. Now its all bullshit shell games and scams.

blangk··on Homebrew Bluetooth Headphones
I would say the difference is not easily noticeable but I haven't done exhaustive testing as I've only really used the cable when FPS gaming on them
