We don't need to wait around for a court to indict a person for "being a crazy homeless person". That's insanely reductive to the point of absurdity.
"First order thinking" is not a euphemism for "I'm right because I said so".

If you'd like you can define "emergent capabilities in an AGI sense".
Or maybe it would love us too hard and squish us. So even then we might be screwed!
There does not need to be a "how", as you put it. The logic is "Maybe we should tread carefully when creating an intelligence that is magnitudes beyond our own". The logic is "Maybe we should tread carefully with these technologies considering they have already progressed to the point where the creators go 'We're not sure what's happening inside the box and it's also doing things we didn't think it could do'".
To just go barreling forward because "Hurr durr that's just nonsense!" is the height of ignorance and not something I expect from this forum.
At some point these AI's will no longer be tools. They will be an alien intelligence that is beyond our intelligence in the way that we are beyond an amoeba.
Perhaps we should tread carefully in this regard, especially considering that the technologies that are public (GPT-4 specifically) have already displayed a multitude of emergent capabilities beyond what their creators intended or even thought possible.
This is incredibly ignorant and I expect better from this forum.
Thank you for adding this link.
(It leaves out the first row of the game in its first response, but I was able to interpret the board state since it played on the second row. When I gave it the full board again in my answer it picked it right up.)
He nonchalantly announced that GPT-4 does "mental math" and then just didn't elaborate on that. Is it just me or is that absolutely incredible? What does that tell us about the underpinnings of language and mathematics?
I see the point you're trying to make. Conspiracy theorists should be treated as broken clocks. If people have evidence but are simply being ignored then I think it's wise to listen to those people.
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
Libertarians are stuck in a pubescent state-of-mind and are wholly incapable of viewing the real world as it is. Hence their absolutely insane "political leanings".
What sort of dumb comment is this?
