bg117··on The turbulent AI era is here
Creative people will no longer create but just type in their requirements. Its fun until you have money to pay for subscription. The value of created artifact will go down and will eventually cease to exist.
bg117··on Ask HN: Is this the worst time to be human?
I think its certainly a great time to be alive now compared to olden days in certain regions/countries/time. But with AI, I see similar scenarios popping up in the future across the world leading to money being concentrated in a few individuals/companies/groups/ or so more than ever. Even passionate individuals will begin to feel miserable eventually losing interest leading to a dumb, mediocre and slave society. The differentiation between intelligent humans and "morons" will narrow. Eventually the majority will all be same.
bg117··on Nestlé adds sugar to infant milk sold in poorer countries, report finds
Guess, it has to do with profit margin. To be price competitive and also make a huge profit, sugar is added as a filler. Sugar is cheap compared to other ingredients may be. Added sugar varies by countries.
bg117··on Ask HN: 36 months of unemployment and depression. How to go back?
- Stay in the sunlight as much as possible. It is free. - Exercise at least 1-2 hours (Walking/Jogging, Yoga) - Eat healthy food - Keep reading - Find out things that interest you and keep doing it ex- books, painting, games... - Mental wellness is the most important thing that you should focus on - Find a topic of topic of interest and work on it ( most difficult but doable) - Don't worry about what others think of you.

bg117··on Nalanda University flourished for more than seven centuries
It's weird when people talk about Islamic contribution when the fact is that Islamic invaders burnt Nalanda university. It was the beginning of dark ages for India. Not the only institution to be destroyed. It was accompanied by ethnic cleansing by invaders that sent the whole education system into an abyss.
bg117··on Everything Is Anime
I'm interested in writing a comic book. What are the open-source tools/software that i need?
bg117··on Elon Musk makes $43B unsolicited bid to take Twitter private
Twitter does not make any great money. It has to go private backed by a wealthy individual to stay afloat for more time without the regulatory worries. It's just a noisy online market place with mostly garbage.
bg117··on Ask HN: Is anyone else genuinely scared that this is the start of WW3?
To avoid war, it is better not to be a hypocrite.
bg117··on Vitamin D3 could be important for fighting infections
It's good for enhancing the overall mood of the person. That feeling of being depressed is reduced.
bg117··on Ask HN: Who Are Anonymous?
If you give them a name, they cease to be Anonymous. Is it not?
bg117··on Ask HN: Any scientifically proven techniques to boost concentration?
Meditation
bg117··on Elizabeth Holmes found guilty
I remember my ex Manager who was from MIT taking the name of Theranos before it was in the news for all things bad and how they are revolutionizing healthcare. Looks like hype is how the whole thing is depending on.
bg117··on U.S. sets goal to drive down cost of removing CO2 from atmosphere
Stitch in time saves nine. It's always better to move to a less polluting lifestyle instead of coming up with a round-about expensive way to capture what was released into the atmosphere. Trying to remove CO2 from the atmosphere is like capturing fart. Except that it is way more complicated.
bg117··on Google introduces mandatory 2-Step Verification for Google Accounts
Had a GMail account with 2FA enabled - Google Authenticator App(GAA). GAA was on my mobile. Lost my mobile and access to my Gmail account last month since I couldn't authenticate without that phone. Stay away.
bg117··on Ask HN: What can you do to help the grieving?
I have lost someone few years back and still feel the loss. How to overcome/recover is up to the individual and there is no fixed time frame. But, its wise to acknowledge the loss and its a fact that people who passed away cannot be brought back. So, try to yoga/exercise and stay in a positive mood. I was under severe stress and exercising for around 2 hours a day helped a lot. Do not eat junk food to be in positive mood since that will only make you obese and unhealthy.
bg117··on Amazon India copied products and rigged search results to promote its own brands
Looks like you have to cheat your way to get to be wealthiest person on the planet and make trips on a rocket. Sucks.
bg117··on Australia to acquire nuclear submarine fleet (AUKUS)
If France joins, will the grouping be named FAUKUS? Sounds very weird...
bg117··on Do adults need tetanus booster shots?
I'm not diabetic and have a healthy lifestyle. I got a tiny injury on my foot during gardening with a iron rod scraping my skin. It didn't look threatening for a couple of days until my legs started swelling. I visited a doctor and gave medications and it went away. I got injured 2nd time after a few months on my leg and injury refused to heal. I visited another doctor again and the first thing he did was to give me a tetanus shot. I observed that it helps in healing and my overall immunity had improved. Lack of immunity shows up in the skin and the symptoms fade away once it improved.

So, periodic Tetanus shot is needed ( once every 3 years). If you are used to spending long hours in cubicles and not much life outside, its the cheapest way to be healthy.

bg117··on World’s biggest machine capturing carbon from air turned on in Iceland
Its not clear how much CO2 does the machine release into the atmosphere? Does it source energy from clean resources?

"Stitch in time saves nine". It's always better to move to a carbon free lifestyle instead of coming up with a round-about expensive way to capture what was released into the atmosphere.

bg117··on Are we on the road to civilisation collapse? (2019)
When in doubt, it is better to ask someone who doesn't belong to your country, race, religion, gender what their views are. If they don't agree, it could be a false alarm.
bg117··on Ask HN: Solo developer, what's your recipe to start working?

bg117··on Common Mistakes of New Engineering Managers
Don't think people are born with leadership trait. Its the experience that one goes through in work and life and along with the thinking that goes with it that makes a leader.

If people are born as leaders, how come world history is full of bad kings/emperors?

bg117··on India’s new intermediary liability and digital media laws will harm the internet
Privacy is not such a big thing. Most of the Asian societies have been very open in the past and privacy only hurts it. But, with the power to monitor people in the hands of government or social media companies, it is better to have at-least some privacy. Encryption for financial transactions is a must. Reputations can be built and tarnished easily very rapidly. It is natural that there should be adequate protections in law. Social media should not be used to incite mobs or fan riots. More such actions are required to prevent unnecessary conflicts. Tracking user actions only help in identifying when trouble arises.
