benchmark··on Here's Why Someone Would Seek Rejection for 30 Days Straight
I think HN member Jason Shen is on the fourth week of the 30 day challenge right now (although he hasn't posted about it yet): http://www.jasonshen.com/2010/the-rejection-therapy-challeng...
benchmark··on My advice for people wanting to try Rejection Therapy
I think introverts or those with social anxiety disorders have more to gain with Rejection Therapy than highly social extroverted people (like yourself).

Having been divorced, I'd say a big YES.
benchmark··on Ask HN: I made $1.01 yesterday. What next?
Averages out to less than a buck a day, so it's not a money maker by any stretch of the imagination.

I've got a gaming website, like yours, but not as smart looking: http://www.funnygamesspot.com

What I suggest is getting a Facebook fanpage up, and corral all your friends. You could get a following for your site that will revisit it again and again.

Good luck, and nice work!

benchmark··on Gizmodo is off my content rotation effective now
I stopped reading Gizmodo awhile ago, for the same reasons you described. And quite frankly, the writing just isn't that good.

BTW, I wish this post was boticed a little more. I'd like to read what others have to say about this.

Good luck with your one man micro startup!

benchmark··on Jason Shen's Rejection Therapy Challenge – Week 2
"This just means you're constantly asking people to give you things."

Not necessarily. How often have we seen people not offer assistance to a needy stranger? Or pay someone a compliment? Or say hello to a complete stranger? We don't because we might not get a response we expect.

Rejection attempts should always be a win/win, or at the very least completely harmless, and Jason demonstrated that.

benchmark··on Review others websites and they review yours
I can see this being a big success. Feedback roulette does everything right: I immediately understood the website and could participate.

Reviewing the websites even has an addictive quality to it.

Interested to know the business model.

Nice work.

benchmark··on Ask HN: Besides HN, What Sites/Blogs Do You Visit Daily?
http://www.marginalrevolution.com is brilliant. Also try Delicious.com, Popurl.com and Slashdot.
benchmark··on I need someone to build my website. My budget is $200 and I need it ASAP.
I knew the risks I was taking, but I took them anyway. I thought a pre-built, pre-ranking website would be a sweet offer, but I was off.

I tried something similar. I designed websites for five local restaurants, all at the same time, then SEO'd them into top positions on Google. Then I went door to door to each restaurant and showed them the websites, live online.

The restaurant owners wouldn't need to do anything. They could assume possession of the website that very day (I would only need to change some pictures and change the website name from "Your Family Restaurant" to their name).

Guess what... I only moved one, and even that one was a special deal. I couldn't even rent the other websites out for a small monthly fee.

I figure it wasn't a price point as much as they just didn't see the value in having a website. If they did, they'd already have a website.

Lesson: Let people come to you. Let them have the need first.

BTW: Every now and then, late at night, I'll get a takeout order for lettuce wraps and fried rice (sigh).
