ballarak··on Tim Cook tells employees the return to offices will begin on April 11th
I think what they're saying is that base comp was artificially lower because of rapidly growing RSU value
ballarak··on New York's largest healthcare provider fires 1,400 unvaccinated workers
The obesity examples fails because obesity is non-contagious. The issue with COVID is that not getting vaccinated puts your coworkers even more at risk in an environment where you're already much more likely to be infected.

Additionally, in health care you're often working with patients who have comorbidities, for these patients, contracting COVID from a healthcare worker could be a death sentence.

ballarak··on France Recalls Its Ambassadors to the U.S. and Australia over a Submarine Deal
Because France doesn't need to care about China but they do need to care about Russia, and they don't have the ability to counterbalance Russia without the US. This is part of why their nationalist movement to rebuilt their military is growing strength, but they're far from being capable of being independent from the US.
ballarak··on A single laser fired through a keyhole can expose everything inside a room
I mean, they could probably just as easily use a window.
ballarak··on Men are rapidly losing their close friends, poll finds
I had a similar experience to you. I'm trying to be forgiving however, because COVID brought a lot of depression, and people going through depression are inwardly focused and can struggle to maintain relationships. As their friend, I want to be there for them when they're able to focus on us again.
ballarak··on 'I was completely inside': Lobster diver swallowed by humpback whale
"Ten years ago, while traveling in Costa Rica, he was a passenger in a small plane that crashed in the jungle, killing the pilot, co-pilot and a passenger. Packard sustained multiple serious injuries to his abdomen and upper body. The rescuers that found the remaining five passengers after two nights in the jungle said they wouldn’t have survived another night."

This guy's luck is clearly maxed out. What a crazy pair of stories.

I feel as though I'm not understanding something. What would stop one from transmitting information using the laser pulse?
ballarak··on I’m a Physicist Who Searches for Aliens. U.F.O.s Don’t Impress Me
I hope everyone commenting in this thread revisits these words after the Pentagon's UAP report is released and performs an honest reflection on their thought processes.

The book Sapiens discusses this at length. Our early hunter gatherer ancestors had a much more varied diet compared to agricultural society

ballarak··on Hackers take over prominent Twitter accounts in simultaneous attack
Bezos is a conservative. Amazon as a company is also conservative-leaning. If you look at Amazon's PAC, most of their donations go to the GOP.
ballarak··on The US Navy Admits UFO Videos Are Real
Read Christopher Mellon's, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Minority Staff Director Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, twitter (https://twitter.com/ChristopherKMe4) for his take on this.

The debunker misses a lot like multiple visual and radar confirmations on the target.

ballarak··on The US Navy Admits UFO Videos Are Real
It can't. Read through Christopher Mellon, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Minority Staff Director Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, twitter (https://twitter.com/ChristopherKMe4).

The debunker doesn't address the fact that in addition to the FLIR-lock, there was multiple visual and radar confirmations.

ballarak··on America’s aggressive use of sanctions endangers the dollar’s reign
There's the possibility that the USG believes the dollar's primacy is going to come to an end in the relatively near future. There are other factors at play that could weaken the dollar's status that matter more than sanctions, including:

(1) The geopolitical shift away from a unipolar world, with the rise of states such as China.

(2) The upcoming end of the petrodollar, as nations shift to renewable energy.

If you believe the reign of the dollar will come to an end anyways, you might as well use its power while you have it and throw sanctions around to weaken your rivals.

ballarak··on Boltzmann Brain
Don't we experience reality as if we were a Boltzmann brain anyways?

How many of us remember the first moment we became conscious?
