I have never found political news to be actionable in any meaningful way. Please delete my account.

Do not take my statements in defense of Trump as support of him. The state of hacker news is such that pro-Hillary sentiment gets away with much greater overstatement and undersourcing, something that I do not like to see go unchecked.

Indeed, it was she who incited violence.

Edit: downvotes yet this is patently true. She ordered her followers to "get him" in reference to Milo.

Edit 2: I was mistaken about the individual she directed her followers to "get", it was a user by the handle of @whitebecky1776.

Edit3: I stand by my claim of her incitement to violence.

back_beyond··on Theranos Faces Growing Number of Lawsuits Over Blood Tests
As an aside -- another interesting manifestation of this Trump-like behavior, and this is the clearest case that I have seen, are the multiple times when Hillary literally seizes on camera and plays it off as if it never happened.

Additionally, not having a way to prepare healthy meals nor exercise regularly leads to a steady decrease in health.

All these factors culminate into a hellish experience in which you regularly face defeat and look for an escape, something you can control, like drugs, alcohol, or death.

What was wrong with that slide?

It specifically mentioned "[his] girlfriend". Although potentially cringe-worthy, there was no generalization. The contents could have been entirely factual.

It originally seemed like an exaggerated portrayal of Bernie Sanders.

back_beyond··on Are PhD Students Irrational?
You seem to be framing PhDs as terrorists. Why is the university obligated to provide jobs when students come regardless of the extent its faculty is exploited?

back_beyond··on Low-income students can soon get federal aid to attend coding schools
As "coding" becomes increasingly mainstream, tools and automation grow in sophistication, Moore's Law dwindles, and problems become exhausted and are not replaced (e.g., move the entire economy onto the web) - I worry that this profession is overhyped. These kids might be late to the race.
back_beyond··on Walmart’s Crime Problem
In high school, my friends and I would visit Walmart just to walk around the store and talk. This town did not have much else to do, in the way of social activities.

back_beyond··on Senior Engineers Reduce Risk
Engineer as a title is largely meaningless in the software world because anyone can apply it to themselves. Once the self-proclaimed engineer hit critical mass, people who may not have otherwise done so now feel compelled to join the bandwagon lest they get looked down upon or take less pay because the well-financed companies hire engineers, not hackers or programmers.

It seems OP is mocking this mindset.

back_beyond··on Coup attempt underway in Turkey
The EU is comprised of over 500 million people from a variety of backgrounds, many of which are indeed Muslim. Hardly an echo chamber. I fail to see what additional growth could be fostered through adding a Muslim majority country. Would you care to elaborate?
back_beyond··on Coup attempt underway in Turkey
Why would you like to see a Muslim country in the EU? Even without Turkey, we are trending in this direction.
