Feels like this is basically Flash 2.0. I'm skeptical anyone will use Flutter primarily for a web app, seems more like an after thought approach if you already have an desktop / mobile app.
My experience using Godot for 2D games ~1.5 years ago was it was mostly enjoyable but there were annoying little bugs in Mac GUI that didn't give me a lot of confidence. The bad part was when it came to 3rd party library integration for mobile, e.g. for ads, tracking, etc. There's not a lot of support in the ecosystem for those, and writing your own wrappers is a big PITA.
Hard to believe paying engineers to work several months on a fake project is some master pimp move. Why couldn't they find some new project that the company could use? Like a new internal tool or something.
My advice is find a way to relocate to the bay area. For remote jobs you're competing against a ton of professionals that already have experience and moved away for covid. And I doubt data science is the right field you should be targeting, as it's mainly a game for people with PhD's and tough for entry level. Web dev or mobile app dev would be way easier to crack. If you have the drive I'd be making as many apps or web apps as possible to build out your portfolio then there will always be a startup that'd be happy to hire you.
People don't like these enormous platforms having the power to unilaterally make these decisions on a dime, accountable to no one but shareholders. At a certain point these platforms get so big and integral to modern life they need to be regulated.
The problem isn't comparative advantage, it's that the US left the poor states to languish with poor education. So instead of higher quality manufacturing / blue collar jobs, non-educated folks got minimum wage service jobs.
5% rotating category cards aren't that great IMO, it's a waste of your time tracking what the categories are. And if you add up the overall cashback percentage you're getting, it's likely going to be less than 2.65% unless you're spending more than 40% of your spending in those categories.
For those of you with 100k in stocks sitting around, I'd recommend the BofA Premium rewards card. You need to transfer 100k in stocks to BofA's brokerage but that'll give you a card which gives 3.5% back on dining/travel and 2.65% on everything else. It saves you way more time than juggling points, and I'm much happier after switching to a one card system.
This seems worse for most except the highest performing employees. You don't get most of the benefits of stock appreciation and 33%-50% of your income is going to be variable based on the opinions of your manager and skip level.
It's more likely they make we webkit mandatory so they can control the pace of progressive web apps and not have their platform be co-opted by Google through the web.
"If Chinese government demands US data and Bytedance's Chinese subsidiary refuses, the government can shut down the Chinese subsidiary, but the Cayman island parent will still operate. Hence Chinese government has no power over the US subsidiary."
The issue is the Chinese government can compel it's citizens to do whatever they want. Having non-Chinese in the management of Bytedance could help but I can't imagine they could have a truly independent board if Bytedance is majority owned by Chinese citizens.
There's an underworld that will buy stolen goods and part them out. And lots of middlemen who will help buy the goods. They don't need to ever turn on the device.
