attemptone··on Banning words won’t make the world more just
In that case I think we have to find some one-eyed man and make him king.

Maybe we can take some of the 'intellectual dark-web'figureheads and blindly follow them. They pretend to have a grasp of this scoial-construction thing.

But I'd rather like to continue searching the intellectual deep-web for a person with actual sight.

I was looking around for societal battles that were not socially constructed. But I guess I'm visually impaired in that respect. Maybe you can help me?
attemptone··on OpenAI is now everything it promised not to be: closed-source and for-profit
I don't follow, other companies can do whatever they want. OpenAI didn't present itself as for-profit and closed-source, so they shouldn't have cared what profit incentive others had.

In a way I wish for another AI winter. Then wouldn't have to mourn the loss of aesthetics and morality

So if it's context dependent and many papers located in science use it. Then it seems pretty reasonable to call it a scientific term.

If it wouldn't be context dependent I wonder how science got to use the words like "transformer", "quark", "entropy" and so on..

Tbh a lot of men I've interacted that held borderline incel opinions could have used a shower and a fashion make-over. It woudn't get them the dream gf but it would have been a start from where to develop

Ah yes, my granfather still remembers the moment he was told that feminism is good. And from then on he deeply knew that the rise of women is no threat to him and his brethren. I on the other hand look at this result and long for the old days, were only the eldest son was allowed to marry and women were not allowed to vote.

Jokes aside, your view of feminism, it's history and results is very reductive. Are you talking about beauvoir, judith butler, the cyborg manifesto or more about the pop feminism that gets represented in talk shows, lifestyle and outrage yt-videos?

I'm happy that my sisters don't have to put up with people that dont treat them well just because their women. Take this with a grain of salt, I've noticed that young men generally seem not to be as emotionally mature as their female counterpart.

I meant the question more personally. Where do you feel pressured to have no/more kids?

I mean yes, there are sensible arguments on either side. But it sounded like we are getting pressured to have more/less children. And that we was what I tried to get at. It sounds egoistic, but on very personal matters I don't like to listen to the ominous blob of internet opinions we all contribute to. And you should too..

I have seen some of my own comments and would be very ashamed if someone took it as literal advice/imperative.

attemptone··on Most young men are single. Most young women are not
Poes Law and all, I'll take your comment at face value.

Where does your percieved need to produce less children come from?

One could also argue that older people who are more settled in life make better parents.

The article also points out a decline in male friendships. Having a relationship doesnt automatically exclude friendships and vice versa.

Personally I think that choice has a similar influence on both. Approaching people you meet only as potential and exchangeable players for your DnD setting or as partners for your bedroom will turn them away the same way.

>So being human expressing likes and dislikes is now a disease?

No, but if I you are unable to do the things you mildy dislike to the point of being detrimental to your life-quality. There's a difference between "I don't like paying the bills but I'll do it once a month" and "I don't like paying the bills but even if I try to do them I end up not doing them"

I can't really follow your point on the other paragraphs, what are you trying to get at?

Thanks :) Hospital has been a favorite of mine for years now. Although I haven't checked out what they released in recent times.

PS: Just saw that there is a Bop x Subwave album going to be released. Kinda excited for that

attemptone··on Undetectable very-low frequency sound increases dancing at a live concert
I know this is probably some off-hand joke. But do you know some tracks that combine jungle and house? Doesn't have to be old-school jungle but just some breaky beats.

I get the instinctual response of distinguishing EDM and Techno or any genre for that matter. Yes, Techno is technically EDM. But when people talk about EDM they generally mean commercialized electronic pop-music. I think it comes from the fact, that people who not have delved deeper into what "EDM" is, mean something like Avicii (no hate) when talking about it. Since that is all they now.

I'm not really sure if your comment was meant ironically or not. So I will reply similarly.

You're absolutely right and we need more of that.

Maybe I misworded that. I didn't want to ask, how it is/was done. But how it ought to be done.

This got me wondering. How does one aquire property such that it your own? I'm thinking of some patch of land that doesn't belong to anybody, since nobody owns it there is noone I can aquire it from. Seems like there is some form of original sin involved in any form of owning land.

The paper suggests that transformer work on a set of select, aggregate and element-wise operations. Which seems pretty close to the SQL statements i write from day to day.

The problem is not with stating the facts. Because facts and numbers have no meaning in themselves.

The problem comes from the things that you're supposedly implying. This isn't entirely your fault, because this line of thinking is brought up again and again. People know what someone is trying to say if someone just pulls up this kind of statistic. Your fault (if it's an honest mistake) is not being aware enough of the discussion around this topic and the lack of articulateness in your comment.

>The FBI is racist and fabricates stats

This, but unironically

attemptone··on Depression is likely not caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, study says
> Feeling depressed sometimes is just the human condition.

Sure, but when we're talking about Depression it's about consistent behaviours and feelings over at least two weeks. I mean, sure, I can deal with a day of suicidal-thoughts but having them over a month is not healthy and it certainly is not just "feeling depressed sometimes". The antidepressants made me numb. I can agree with that. But that numbness was way more preferable than the mental anguish I had to go through.

attemptone··on The performative quality of computer-generated art
From: "Letters to a young poet" by Rainer Maria Rilke

> If, as a result of this turning inward, of this sinking into your own world, poetry should emerge, you will not think to ask someone whether it is good poetry. And you will not try to interest publishers of magazines in these works. For you will hear in them your own voice; you will see in them a piece of your life, a natural possession of yours. A piece of art is good if it is born of necessity. This, its source, is its criterion; there is no other.

As a long time /lit/-izen I wanted bring up 4chan as an counter-example of a toxic platform that hasn't been optimized for attention. But the longer I thought about it, the more I grew sure that it isn't as toxic as it seems to be. Sure people will respond to your post calling you a bundle of sticks or the n-word. But in the end I had more heart-to-hearts with people that have widly different opinions than on any other platform. Some anon on /wg/ even convinced me to see a therapist about my suicidal-ideation. Hearing that from a voice in the void where there was no karma/likes/hearts/reblogs/etc. attached seemed more genuine, honest and caring than any other "help" I experienced online.

Your comment and that talk reminded me of a philsophy lecture I had about Nietzsche and the reason behind the "Übermensch".

Nietzsche feared that the progression of atheism would lead to broadly accepted Nihilism. Which would have the implication of anarchy and moralless behaviour. So he imagined the "Übermensch", a person who choses his own meaning and own morals, free from any moral commitment society has placed upon him.
