Why are you using experimental OSs on work machines? The LTS versions exist for a reason.
I wouldn't like it if someone followed me around meatspace with a clipboard all day. I don't like it online either.
You may not identify individual users but Google probably do...

You should make it opt in by default. Or stop doing it!
Sort of like a battery?
And... You've just lost standards compliance so you can't use any standards compliant clients. This is a terrible hack of a workaround and you know it :)
man xsetEDIT: Also who says that time inside the simulation has to run the same rate as real time?
I'd probably use some sort of hybrid wave/particle model to facilitate the last minute calculations.
EDIT: In my layman's opinion pressing that button is an explicit request to delete the data. Also the kind of behavior you are suggesting is not private-by-default and goes against the spirit of the law. I don't think that a judge will look kindly on it.
I am not a lawyer. I am not your lawyer. I suggest that you consult a lawyer.
This is based on my personal layman's understanding. I am NOT a lawyer. I am NOT your lawyer. If you need legal advice consult a competent lawyer in your jurisdiction.
Your backups should be cycled after a few months and the deleted data will eventually not be present in any backups.
Just speak to your future line manager and explain that you have returned a modified version of the contract and that you hope that they will agree to it soon because you are really excited to start working.
Not that this actually happens-or would be a particularly good idea if it did for other reasons (like breaking up teams etc).
