asdfqwertzxcv··on Penguin Mail – open-source Rust email client for Linux with AI
I use a similar catch-all scheme and would love to define the sender and email account separately. So many companies see that my account email is: company@mydomain.com and require support requests to come from that address. So then ive got to then turn that alias into a mailbox - its quite frustrating.

If I can be a beggar and a chooser: The vim keystrokes to go to the top or bottom of the current email list and/or the conversation thread items are sorely missed.

Was looking for exactly this type of email app last week and nothing had the mix of features tecotype has and definitely not as polished. Yes, I know i could cobble all this together but you've basically answered my prayers. Eagerly awaiting the linux release!
asdfqwertzxcv··on Aegis – Next-Gen Selfhosted Web Application Firewall (WAF) & Edge Reverse Proxy
Not to pour cold water on the name but there's a fairly well-known 2FA app with the same name. https://github.com/beemdevelopment/Aegis
asdfqwertzxcv··on All I wanted was a custom domain email
Same and agreed. Absolutely great service for the cost
asdfqwertzxcv··on Ask HN: What are you reading?
The Power Broker is very good but his LBJ series is phenomenal. When I recommend it to people I say it's like The Odyssey of American History and Politics. It's the best non-fiction series I've ever read and I almost exclusively read NF.
asdfqwertzxcv··on F-Droid 2.0
I think I’ve encountered 1 or 2 apps that didn’t work on Obtanium so YMMV.
asdfqwertzxcv··on F-Droid 2.0
You can use it with non-github releases too, but it's super rare when one isn't available. In the case when Obtanium doesn't work, I just use F-Droid.
asdfqwertzxcv··on F-Droid 2.0
Same for me. I typically search on F-Droid to find the apps and then add the github to Obtanium.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Hister: A private search engine for the pages you visit and the files you keep
Thanks so much for creating this. Installed last time it was posted and have been loving it. The MCP server and extensions and userscripts are great QOL additions, as well. Always wondered if something was out there like this and you answered my prayers! New name suggestion: MisterHistory
asdfqwertzxcv··on Eating Fruit Skins
I like turning the rind into pickles. Very good!

For banana skins, you can turn them into a vegan bacon. Many recipes online that are all pretty much the same result. I like them too.

asdfqwertzxcv··on Eating Fruit Skins
Yes I love those grape drinks! Very similar to thinned out canned fruit cocktail syrup/fruits.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Herdr Studio
Where are you looking to move to? I agree that it seems like an obvious feature to be missing.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Every exterior shot in The Taking of Pelham 123
Kind of reminds me of this, too: https://www.nytimes.com/video/insider/100000004687429/farewe...

I also love the old switchboards and office furniture. It is indeed a time capsule.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Why I email complete strangers
Yes, the comment sections are not something I dip into because it's a minefield. The baby gets thrown out with the toxic bath water in that instance but it's much better for mental health.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Why I email complete strangers
I’ve been on the creator side with 1M+ followers and the amount of times someone has dropped a kind note like that can be counted on one hand. It’s such a breath of fresh air compared to the hate, criticizing and general unpleasantness that is so pervasive when dealing with online communities - even my own.

As a result, I make it a point to send notes to anyone if I’ve enjoyed their work, because I know how much its meant to me, that I hope to pass along those kind, appreciate feelings.

I have that and still have regular sync conflicts. :(

That's what I'm hoping for as well

The S4 is the new version coming soon with a front light.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Ask HN: Any interesting niche hobbies?
You: "So, what are some hobbies you enjoy in your free time?"

Them: "I got worms."

You: "I beg your pardon?"

Them: "That's what I do. I got worms and wormfarms and do composting."

asdfqwertzxcv··on Paralleltext.app – Learn Languages by Reading
Very cool! Just playing with it for the first time. Any chance of adding Turkish?
asdfqwertzxcv··on Slowing Down in the Age of Coding Agents
I've been doing similar: analog-ish for deep thinking and its been akin to the 'measure twice, cut once' adage and I've noticed the projects have improved outcomes. PS. If OP sees this: How are you liking the Pentax 17?
asdfqwertzxcv··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
That's really fun. I like the quick snippet, but would like a 2nd tier of interesting facts about the thing instead of just the quick ironic bits (after looking at 'Inventors Killed by Their Inventions').

Would like to be able to skip items/stories without having to x or heart. Feels like a left or right swipe on the main cards should go to other topics. It doesnt feel right 'voting' on them without having read them.

asdfqwertzxcv··on Stripe Data vs. Open‐Source Alternatives: A MRR Example
Would equals be simple enough for a staff member with limited accounting and tech background who has been putting simple revenue, churn, product trend reports together by hand using our stripe data? If so, how can we reach out to schedule a meeting to discuss?
asdfqwertzxcv··on From RSS to My Kindle
Exact same problems and I went the iPad mini route. Honestly, it was worth it. I bought an older one to save cash and it works great.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Intermittent fasting+protein pacing can lead to weight loss, gut health
Just waiting for alien abduction and Elvis being alive and well articles to come out and we've got a new version of the old National Enquirer.
asdfqwertzxcv··on Intermittent fasting+protein pacing can lead to weight loss, gut health
Was confused by this, as well. It appears they skilled the intermittent part entirely.
asdfqwertzxcv··on D-Day, as told by paratroopers
Agreed. History is rhyming a lot, lately. Feels like we're reliving events from about 100ish years ago.
asdfqwertzxcv··on First-in-human implantation of bionic device to halt Crohn's disease (2023)
No real difference for me. It mostly comes down to quantity, speed and how much it’s broken down by chewing, cooking or blending.
