arthurk··on Never get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life
You should read this short story: http://www.businessballs.com/stories.htm#businessman_fisherm...
arthurk··on Ask HN: Feedback Please - Lit
Nice design, but what is Lit? To me it looks like a blog.
arthurk··on Dreamhost St. Patrick's 92% off
From the Dreamhost wiki:

"If Django is crucial to your site, you may wish to consider another host since Dreamhost does not officially support Django. In the past, some users have reported reliablity problems; however, others have had no problems."

arthurk··on Safari 4 beta released
Hidden settings: http://pastie.textmate.org/398861 (including blue progress bar and tab bar placing)
arthurk··on Ma.gnolia Data is Gone For Good
The website is down (at least for me). But there's also some information on the official ma.gnolia site: http://ma.gnolia.com/
arthurk··on TED 2009: How to Grow Your Own Fresh Air
This is great. These plant are also very common and therefore easy to get and don't cost much. I think I've seen the Areca Palm at Ikea.

Do you have any pictures of how it looks inside the building?

arthurk··on Watch Out, Kindle: Google Makes iPhone the New eBook Reader
It also works with the G1, here's the original announcement from google: http://tinyurl.com/cvlxmu
arthurk··on Ask HN: Review our app, Lizzer
The first impression of the service and the site in general is good.

But I'm not really happy with the registration. Why do I need to sign up? Didn't I just use the service on the website? I don't want to customize it, just give me the bookmarklet with some default services.

Anyway, I signed up 10 minutes ago and am still waiting for the e-mail with the activation link.

arthurk··on The Google Software Update Agent
I know that this is old but traffic on this article has increased since Google Earth has been released and the information in the article is still valid. A lot of users probably didn't even know there was a Google Update Deamon running on their System and are now wondering about it.

"Don't be evil" ;)

arthurk··on Ask HN: How do you get tech bloggers to review a startup?
Here are my thoughts:

* Slow load time (I'm located in Europe)

* It's not clear what your startup does. At first, I thought it would be something using Amazon S3 because of the name "s3mer". The "What is s3mer?" section is also very unclear to me.

* Why the Adobe Air, Mac, Windows XP and Windows Vista logos? If it runs on Air wouldn't it also run on Linux?

* The "Change Language" overlay is blinking when the site is loading and displayed by default (WebKit nightly ;-))

arthurk··on High Readability for your Terminal.app
I'm using the IR_Black style which can be found here: http://blog.infinitered.com/entries/show/6
arthurk··on Ask HN: Which school do you attend?
University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund, Germany.
arthurk··on In 2009, Microsoft Still Underestimates the Web
The hoster for the Windows 7 beta download is Akamai, MS is not hosting it themselves.
arthurk··on Save Money By Deleting Your Cookies--A Case Study
If you use Firefox and have the Web Developer Extension installed, you can delete Cookies for a specific domain and temporarily disable cookies.
arthurk··on Apple kills off DRM for whole iTunes music catalog
Hacker News is not about music recommendations. Read http://ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
arthurk··on MacRumors live feed hacked during keynote
The whole source code was visible by appending "/admin/" to the url. You could then read through the PHP files and gain access to the backend.
arthurk··on Clear cookies/reset browser doesn't delete your Flash cookies
I still remember when there wasn't a restriction on the size of flash cookies and you could put in as many MB as you wanted.
arthurk··on Ask HN: review my app
7. It's possible to enter a blank name by inserting an html tag (which then gets stripped from the text) in the name field.
arthurk··on See all the web bugs tracking you - Ghostery
Great idea! Is there a Safari version planned?
arthurk··on Startups and Work: Europe vs the US
I don't think the US and Europe can be generalized like this. I've never been to the US, but I can image that startups are a lot different in SV than in other cities. Same goes for Europe. For example, when talking about the "startup culture and mentality" the author provides only one example: Italy. But cultures are very different across europe, you can't just compare Italy with Spain, Germany and other countries.
arthurk··on TortoiseGit 0.1
The TortoiseGit source code is not hosted on Google Code (it's here: http://repo.or.cz/w/TortoiseGit.git).
arthurk··on HTML-Ipsum
Thank you. I can't even remember how often I copied the lorem-ipsum into my source code and marked the paragraphs up with <p>-tags. This will save me some time (and frustration).
arthurk··on µTorrent for Mac released
I just tried it myself and uTorrent does give me better transfer speeds than Transmission (~80kb/s vs. ~60kb/s). It's not much and I tend to like Transmission more because it's Open Source but I wonder why there is such a difference.
arthurk··on A Model of Your Inbox
Basically Stephen Covey’s time management matrix applied on emails.
arthurk··on Etherpad Shows Google Docs How It’s Done (By AppJet)
Same here, WebKit nightly didn't crash but I'm getting a "Lost connection with the EtherPad synchronization server." error.
arthurk··on Ask HN: review my site, afterthepinkslip.com

  "Maybe I should drop a vowel : aftrthepinkslip.com"
Please don't do this.
arthurk··on Change.gov
Someone forgot to replace the "Lorem Ipsum" text on the signup page:

http://change.gov/page/signup

and the "Plan" page needs content: http://change.gov/americaserves/plan ;-)

arthurk··on New Firefox JavaScript engine is faster than Chrome's V8
TraceMonkey was the fastest engine two months ago, now its SquirrelFish Extreme.
arthurk··on Ask HN: Review our app, Muspy (new album notification service)
Would it be possible to have a RSS feed with the latest album releases rather than email notifications?
arthurk··on Elastic Tab Stops: A Better Way to Indent and Align Code
