15 minutes might just be the slowest under-2-seconds launch ever.
"Placing layout elements on the four edges of the screen allows for infinitely large targets in one dimension and therefore present ideal scenarios. As the user's pointer will always stop at the edge, they can move the mouse with the greatest possible speed and still hit the target. The target area is effectively infinitely long along the movement axis. Therefore, this guideline is called “Rule of the infinite edges”. The use of this rule can be seen for example in MacOS, which places the menu bar always on the top left edge of the screen instead of the current program's windowframe."

I think it's infinitely more likely that Apple creates a non-self driving car that millions will buy than creating a self-driving car beyond level 2.
I think a radically different approach is needed, one that emphasizes real end-user value and data over APIs and tech. Something that's driven by deep UX design and can follow ordinary people throughout their lives without requiring them to become admins or worry too much about security and privacy.
This release really highlights that the next big step for WordPress is making Gutenberg a site-wide editor, not just a content editor. This means being able to control all aspects of a site's design using Gutenberg's visual blocks and being less dependent on theme capabilities.
TLDR We don't give a shit about privacy and are actively working on combating this pro-privacy measure.
> A smaller publisher, a local newspaper, a solo freelancer, a small blog; all these will lose data on a significant part of their audience. A likely valuable part of their audience. And it may stifle or slow their growth or opportunities.
I seriously doubt that "solo freelancers" and "small blogs" are going to be affected by this. They have real businesses to run, email is just a marketing channel for them and not their source of income.
> Where previously you could unsubscribe readers who hadn't opened your newsletter to save money, now you don't know if they're loyal or not. You'll have to find other ways to entice them to let you know they are reading. A larger publisher can afford to keep 20,000 recipients on a list that never open an email. A smaller outfit cannot.
This is so delusional it hurts my brain. I have never in my life been unsubscribed by any newsletter, but I've been auto subscribed to hundreds of them by asshole marketers. If thousands of people don't want to read your shitty newsletter - that's a YOU PROBLEM easily fixed by allowing subscribers to unsub in a fast and reliable manner.
I think Github can be a positive force for change here. Redesign the UI to encourage donations, to encourage people to get involved in project work, to write less hostile issues, etc. If devs and designers can weaponize UI to create addiction, anxiety and FOMO, maybe we can use the same tools for good for once.

How do you use AI/ML if you don't mind me asking?
I hope you find a path forward where you have health and happiness.
I'm thinking of studying mobile app dev but my god does it sound tedious and heavy with bureaucracy. It sounds miserable if you are an indie or just like to mess around with your stack. Or am I wrong?
