aritmo··on Namecheap: Russia Service Termination
It's almost seven years since Saudi Arabia started the war against Yemen [1] They are still attacking Yemen and they commit atrocities.

Could you please consider a Saudi Arabia Service Termination?

aritmo··on Moscow launches full-scale invasion of Ukraine
Shortly after, the nuclear missiles left Cuba. Sixty years later, Cuba is still under full sanctions, Guantanamo is still occupied.

Cuba was set up by the Soviets. The Ukraine has been set up as a way to marginalize and weaken Russia.

aritmo··on Moscow launches full-scale invasion of Ukraine
Just another Cuba in the making.

Cuba decided in the 60s to accept Soviet nuclear missiles. The US found out and threatened a WW3. There was a failed attempt to invade Cuba. Still the US keeps Guantanamo by force.

Sixty years on and Cuba is under total economic sanctions by the US.

aritmo··on Apple bans accounts of developers from Belarus
I did not know that the US had indiscriminate sanctions against Belarus.
aritmo··on Apple bans accounts of developers from Belarus
Are there actually such sanctions against Belarus?
aritmo··on Ubuntu India server (in.archive.ubuntu.com) Seems to Be Down
It is managed by someone in India (mirrors.estointernet.in) and their certificate needs renewal. They use Let's Encrypt for their TLS certificate. You can contact them to renew their certificate.

There is nothing to be done from the Ubuntu side.

aritmo··on Melting glaciers may produce thousands of kilometers of new salmon habitat
This looks like sugar-coating the effects of climate change. It is still a 'may' and likely will never materialize.
aritmo··on U.S. blacklists 34 Chinese entities, citing human rights abuses
pretense: 'human rights abuses'

what really happens: it's an economic war against China.

aritmo··on US will ban investment in 8 Chinese companies, including DJI
The primary reason for the sanctions is the economic war. The US wants to hurt China financially.
aritmo··on US will ban investment in 8 Chinese companies, including DJI
So it wasn't just Trump being Trump. It's US gov policy in the economic war.

aritmo··on China bars celebrities from showing off wealth and 'extravagant pleasure'
This was a known issue in ancient societies and they banned the showing off of wealth even then.

In retrospect it is so obvious.

aritmo··on Metallurgist admits faking steel test results for US Navy subs
Indeed, it's a very silly statement. As if the specific requirement was not meant to be taken literally but the metallurgist should abide to it anyways.

The metallurgist just wanted to save some $$$ by selling rejected/out-of-specs products.

aritmo··on Six Palestinian organizations hacked with NSO Group’s Pegasus Spyware
Which nation would benefit from those infections?
aritmo··on North Macedonian public key used to sign fake Covid-19 certs not trusted anymore
There is talk that private keys have been compromised and people were getting fake vaccination certificates.

North Macedonia did not safeguard the signing key properly and it got leaked?

aritmo··on Greater than 99% consensus on human caused climate change in the literature
Even without any scientific background, you can see that the denialism is really fishy. The denialism stinks.

Those that are antivaxx, are also climate deniers. To the core.

aritmo··on Android phones are sending significant amount of user data with no opt-out [pdf]
Android takes snapshots (screenshots) of apps as soon as you switch to another app. When you view the app list, it already has the last view of each app.

But the Xiaomi/MIUI Android sends over those screenshots back to the company is new information.

aritmo··on How to permanently delete your Facebook account
I do not understand what is the fuss about deleting your Facebook account.

1. Create a VPS 2. Install one of those Facebook scraping tools 3. Use your account credentials and start scraping. 4, Facebook will freak out, lock you out and ask for passport and ID cards. Do not provide any.

During their next account purge, they will remove your account.

aritmo··on Waydroid – Run Android containers on Ubuntu
LXC, not LXD.
aritmo··on Russian administration scrambles the election results to make them hard to parse
Facebook does this on the post dates as well and elsewhere.
aritmo··on Russian administration scrambles the election results to make them hard to parse
Just like Facebook does, right?
aritmo··on Can progressives be convinced that genetics matters?
In this day and age, it is easy to get the actual degree and be called a 'scientist'.

In these Internet days, it is even easier to claim you are a scientist when you are anonymous online, and make all sort of claims.

aritmo··on Man can change his pupil size on command
Doesn't that happen to anyone when you focus near or far?

Am I missing something?

aritmo··on Robert Sapolsky on Depression (2009)
I wouldn't give too much importance to Stuart Ritchie. He is right-wing and conservative, and conservatives hate Sapolsky. Ritchie's political views are evident in his book.
aritmo··on The Taliban are sitting on $1T worth of minerals the world needs
We already spent that $1T for the 20y occupation of Afghanistan. Why did we leave?
aritmo··on Afghanistan: Facebook confirms ban of Taliban-related content
"The Taliban is sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law and we have banned them from our services under our Dangerous Organization policies. This means we remove accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them," a Facebook spokesperson told the BBC.

How was it possible to negotiate the peaceful transfer of power a few months ago if the Taliban is still sanctioned as a terrorist organization under US law?

aritmo··on Xiaomi gifts all 184K Mi 1 first-time buyers a ¥1999 (~$308) voucher
You'll need to still have that old email that was used in the online order of the M1.
aritmo··on A tweet cost him his doctorate: the extent of China’s influence on Swiss Unis
The tweet: «#CCP made fighting #COVID-19 plan B. Only to be executed if Plan A – covering it up – fails. Those are the actions of paranoid cowards. They neither deserve my respect nor gratitude #ChinaLiedPeopleDied»

That is QAnon-class.

aritmo··on Analysis of large binaries and games in Ghidra-SRE
It depends on the game you are trying to work on. If the game has protections, then it does not make sense to make that your first game to analyze.
aritmo··on Artists, shrug off that imposter syndrome – the tech world needs you
The title is a disaster.

It would only make sense if they are selling training services to artists to migrate to UI design, and they want to lower their self-esteem so that they actually pay them for the training.

Oh.
