archsurface··on Wi-Fi jamming to knock out cameras suspected in nine Minnesota burglaries
You don't know what they're willing to do to take your things. Are you really going to sit around to find out?
archsurface··on The Youth Mental Health Crisis Is International Part 4: Europe
Argumentative with no substance.
archsurface··on 165 m private submersible superyacht
Once ordered this will take years to build. I don't see a figure, but would guess 5+ years...?
archsurface··on The Youth Mental Health Crisis Is International Part 4: Europe
It sounds like you're talking about adults rather than youth.
archsurface··on John Deere Announces Strategic Partnership with SpaceX
Replacing a tesla with a combine harvester for starship test payload.
archsurface··on Gamers at risk of irreversible hearing loss and tinnitus, study suggests
Agreed. Discos, walkmans, ... This is just BBC doing its bit for the nanny state.
archsurface··on Teach Yourself Programming in Ten Years (1998)
I don't think it needs spelling out. Make an effort if you must.

Ps, remember when using svg without a background in a readme that github has multiple themes including dark ones.
archsurface··on Why don't grocery stores stock pawpaw fruit?
We need scientific names - as a non-American that's not what I know as a pawpaw.

This has been going on for decades.
archsurface··on SpaceX Illegally Fired Workers Critical of Musk, Federal Agency Says
I guess they're not rocket scientists.
archsurface··on Ask HN: Programming Courses for Experienced Coders?
You consider this to be "for experienced coders"?
archsurface··on Ask HN: Programming Courses for Experienced Coders?
That book is recommended quite often - I don't agree, I was disappointed. If you know the just the basics of the two topics you won't learn anything new.
archsurface··on Korea to welcome 'digital nomads' with new visa starting Jan. 1
And take what you've discovered back to your home country. This is why migration is economic warfare on the origin countries.

Wow. Memories. Loving it.
archsurface··on 2,300-year-old mosaic made of shells and coral found under Rome
"A five-year dig into the side of Rome’s Palatine Hill yielded treasure last week when archaeologists discovered a deluxe banquet room..."

A week to clean up from discovery? I thought these things took much longer.

archsurface··on Record global temperatures and U.S. billion-dollar disasters
Complex, not pad.
archsurface··on Record global temperatures and U.S. billion-dollar disasters
The percentage of weather events which are billion-dollar should increase given increasingly advanced infrastructure such as space launch complexes.
archsurface··on Cory Doctorow: Freeing Ourselves from the Clutches of Big Tech
People won't even switch from chrome to firefox. The apathy is revolting.

"in part".
archsurface··on Cocoa harvested by kids as young as 5 in Ghana: CBS News investigation
It's a phase that countries go through eg Britain's chimney sweeps.
archsurface··on Google says bumpy Pixel 8 screens are nothing to worry about
Nothing to enjoy either. I have a pixel for graphene, but can't do another pixel after this one. Presumably graphene have a backup plan for if (when) google drop the phone - I wish they'd execute that backup plan before we hit that bump.
archsurface··on Show HN: Transform Notes into Visual Mind Maps
Am I missing something - this is mind mapping, as in freemind, old as the hills?
archsurface··on Google is deleting inactive accounts. Here's what that means
With digital id, a dystopian nightmare.
archsurface··on We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam to return to OpenAI as CEO
I'm not American - I'm unclear what all this fuss is about? From where I am it looks like some arbitrary company politics in a hyped industry with a guy whose name I've seen mentioned on this site occasionally but really comes across as just a SV or San Fran cult of personality type. Am I missing something? Is there some substance to this story or is it just this week's industry soap opera?
archsurface··on I tested four NVMe SSDs from four vendors – half lose FLUSH'd data on power loss (2022)
How do you conclude from a single drive that there is a flood?

Is anyone else unable to get through this capture page? Every time it comes up I end up doing countless captures, clicking not a robot, round and round, never get through.
archsurface··on Google confirms they will disable uBlock Origin in Chrome in 2024
I remain baffled that people are still using chrome. Each to their own.
archsurface··on Thomas Edison's Concrete Houses
They're not saying "fuck it", it's a deliberate aesthetic.
