archonis··on "Enshittification" Isn't Real
What a user insulting horrible bad faith attempt at a hot take on the issue.

Hard to take this self proclaimed cyberethnographer seriously.

archonis··on Show HN: My wife is mobile Safari Wikipedia editor with a capital issue
Capitalized first letter is not percieved by the majority of people as shouting.

Does mobile safai render the entire name in all caps when the first letter is capitalized?

archonis··on Google Maps renames "Lake Ontario" to "Lake America" faster than US Government
It feels good to model the future that way, but seems incredibly unlikely there will be consequences for those people.
archonis··on Inception-style curved map for turn-by-turn directions
...and they're promoting it by referencing said movies.
archonis··on Inception-style curved map for turn-by-turn directions
It fails the task as often as not on large East Coast highways. Not nearly as bad on the West Coast.
archonis··on Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards
>> And there's lots of evidence that we've hit a million unlikely goalposts.

What makes them unlikely?

archonis··on The "File" menu isn't about files
Great satire, but how are you going to prevent some UX person at Apple from thinking this is good idea?
archonis··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
What's your sample size?
archonis··on Why it might be time to rethink the human family tree
Please educate yourself about basic biological taxonomy before you accidentally and publically position yourself as a practitioner and champion of flawed race science.
archonis··on Munder Difflin – Agent harness to run an office of your clones
Everyone is a believer.

What exactly do you believe and why should anyone accomodate it?

archonis··on Stop Making TUIs
>> Because I assume that agents work better with a filesystem to grovel

What the what now?

archonis··on Show HN: Rex, a parallel functional language for scientific workflows
It requires trivial effort to search for prior art before naming something.

OP: Worth doing if you'd like others to invest time lookong at your project.

archonis··on AI companies destroy physical books – let's scan rare books before it's too late
Anna's Archive merely indexes copyrighted content. It doesn't host.
archonis··on AI companies destroy physical books – let's scan rare books before it's too late
PR only cares that the company is percieved as unstoppable & inevitable.

If their PR teams did have a response to these actions, it would be something to the effect of:

"would you rather china destroy all the books and gatekeep the knowledge?"

archonis··on IBM Simon (1994): the original smartphone, explained in its own ad [video]
Don't forget size. Didn't reasonably fit in any non coat/jacket pocket.
archonis··on LLM City – 3D render of all Kimi K3's weights as 2.5mm tiles
Worked on initial load on chrome. After refreshing page to attempt to undo settings, I get an overlay:

"This visualization requires WebGL2. Try a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari browser with hardware acceleration enabled"

Third reload, works fine.

Separate of the above observation:

Nice work.

archonis··on AI Terms Explained with Simple Examples Using a Dosa Analogy
Poor analogy striving for novelty achieves torture.
archonis··on Stripe will reportedly acquire OpenRouter for $7B+
Processing analytics is very different than processing mission critical api endpoints. No response required.
archonis··on AI has access to a vastly larger working memory than the human brain
Permanant vacation is great for an individual. I'd love one.

However, for our species, extinction follows domestication.

archonis··on AI has access to a vastly larger working memory than the human brain
A good mother doesn't raise children to be dependent upon her for all their needs.

For this to actually work in a way that benefits our species, humans will need to become something else/next through their interaction with the technology.

archonis··on Instagram's New Logo
Looks like it was made by a time traveler with jetlag.
archonis··on Seven books I keep close because I love them
The Gell-Mann amnesia effect also applies to the majority of translations.
archonis··on Demographic Dividend, my ass; overpopulation sucks
>> It is hard to believe that only a few years ago the CEO of Twitter had to apologize for buying a sandwich from Chick-fil-A. That being replaced by a political regime that is openly racist, corrupt, is an insane extreme no one could’ve predicted.

Hard to engage beyond this when the looming pendulum swing was blindingly apparant to anyone observing the culture war from any reasonable distance.

archonis··on A new study of a bot running a store finds it is friendly but not very smart
>> Mr. Petersson and Mr. Backlund said they thought Luna would eventually get smarter and more business-savvy

How are we supposed to take these "labs" seriously when they clearly don't understand how the technology works at a rudimentary level?

archonis··on Production Imminent: 40 Solar-Charging Aptera EVs Coming Soon
The product concept really does need to exist in this world.

I just don't think the folks who have taken 50k preorders over the last 20 years and have yet to fulfill one are going succeed.

archonis··on Production Imminent: 40 Solar-Charging Aptera EVs Coming Soon
Are people still falling for Aptera's nonsense?
archonis··on Why Gen Z's turned off by sex scenes in movies
There is no why in the article, only what.
archonis··on Humans Will Never Leave the Solar System
Hard to take any article on this subect seriously when the author can't conceive of (and argue against the solution of) centrifugal force used for artificial gravity.

Arguments in favor of not destroying our home planet are a good thing, but the article is shallow enough to hurt the author's cause.

archonis··on White House excludes open models from framework to test advanced AI capabilities
Axios has lost a lot of credibility as of late. Seems like they're quite willing to journalism wash anything the current dministration tells them.
archonis··on Tell HN: I hate your fuzzy search
I guess one man's quirk is another man's feature. (or vice-versa)
