analogpixel··on Now AI agents need what RSS does
I have this idea, that instead of browsing completely random things on the internet pushed by what other people are interested in (or want to promote), create an llm that scans through your backlog of projects YOU want to do, and then search the internet for projects/articles about those things, and then create a feed from that.

I'm not sure why I keep reading HN, 99% of the content is uninteresting, probably 99.9% now that every article is about AI. maybe I just like clicking on things.

analogpixel··on Uber caps employee AI spending after blowing through budget in four months
I find it kind of funny that all these companies were token-maxing while the AI companies are giving services at huge discounts costing the AI companies tons of money just so the people can get on leader boards at work. How much has Anthropic and OpenAI spent on just people wanting to get on the leader board at work (or worse, how many trees have been burned down just to get on the leader board at work.)
analogpixel··on Morningstar values SpaceX at $780B, half its IPO target
Thanks for the responses; next question...

in theory, people that do this for a living know this? shouldn't they all be raising the red flags on this, as opposed to say just people on hackernews?

I keep seeing this comment on all these spacex posts, can someone ELI5 to me why the pension funds are going to be forced to buy this? (do they not have free will on what they buy?)
analogpixel··on I made my phone slow on purpose
I found the easiest way to give up social media, is to just stop using it cold turkey. With all these other systems you just end up slowly weaning yourself back on over time.

it would be a good conspiracy if all these apps were made by facebook/twitter/etc because they know that's the case.

analogpixel··on Nvidia RTX Spark
Oh, btw, we are only making 10 of these, the rest of our capacity has been sold off to the large AI firms.
analogpixel··on United Airlines 767 returns to Newark after Bluetooth name sparks alert
I don't have a reddit login and was able to view the link just fine.
analogpixel··on United Airlines 767 returns to Newark after Bluetooth name sparks alert
It would be interesting to see some kind of future where reporters get paid per fact they feed into the system, and then the system just outputs a coherent list of what happened without any fluff, or opinion.

The hard part would be figuring out the worth of each submission. LLMs might be able to assign a price based on the importance of the fact submitted? and then subscription fee people pay is paid to the contributors. I guess you could also have people rate the inputs and base it on that. (what the readers found important.)

analogpixel··on United Airlines 767 returns to Newark after Bluetooth name sparks alert
We can, we just have to pay the $0.05 per articles to do it, and some articles aren't even worth the $0.05.
analogpixel··on United Airlines 767 returns to Newark after Bluetooth name sparks alert
I pine for the day when news is this:

- Flight 767 returned to airport after seeing a bluetooth device named "BOMB"

- After asking all passengers multiple times to turn off all devices and not getting the "BOMB" to go away, they flight had to return to the airport where officials were waiting to search the plane.

- This was not intentional, but a product that calls it self "BOMB" https://hellottec.com/product/bomb-portable-bluetooth-speake...

- Passengers on the plane commented of the event as it was going on in this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/unitedairlines/s/57lugEMhxl

I guess I shouldn't pine, I can just have AI summarize all sources for me, and stop dealing with poor reporting that tries to drag 3 bullet points into multiple pages for the sake of selling ad space.

analogpixel··on US plans to halt immigration, customs processing at 'sanctuary city' airports
I can't wait for my tax dollars to pay the trillions of dollars in damages to these state when they rule that Trump had no authority to do this and have to pay back all lost revenue.

I mean If I could choose where that Trillion dollars of wasted money went, I'd give myself free healthcare.

analogpixel··on What Is a Dickover?
Maybe if people don't like dickovers, paywalls, and all the other bad patterns , they should stop submitting and voting them up.
analogpixel··on It's hard to justify buying a Framework 12
I don't play D&D, but I do play with computers, so I'm more of a geek than a nerd.
analogpixel··on It's hard to justify buying a Framework 12
so in 8 years, I'll be able to buy a new CPU and it'll work in that old laptop?
analogpixel··on Wterm – A terminal emulator for the web
for a second I thought it was going to give me a filesystem view of the DOM of the webpage with unix utilities to ls/grep/find stuff. that would have been fun (although i'm not 100% sure the use.)

I was going to have Cluade do this, but I'm not sure if this is worth the tokens.

analogpixel··on It's hard to justify buying a Framework 12
- The Framework is more expensive : Kind of care, but not really if it's worth the money.

- slower (in most cases) : I care about this. Blender needs to render.

- louder (its fan ramps up quite often) : I care about this, it needs to be silent.

- has a pretty poor display : I care about this, I don't want poor screen quality, poor color quality, poor text rendering.

- but it is a touchscreen: could care less about this.

- has a 360° hinge : care even less about this.

- and is more repairable and upgradeable : really don't care about this at all, by the time this laptop needs to be upgraded, i'll just buy a new one anyways since the new parts probably won't work in the old machine.

I'm thinking Apple might just be better at figuring out what specs actually matter, and which specs just make nerds happy but don't actually sell. (except liquid glass, they failed on that.)

analogpixel··on The worst job interview I ever had
Would be funny if the interviewer wrote the exact same blog post; "I had the worst candidate interview today, I asked him a simple ice-breaker question before getting into more technical stuff, and he just went off about his family and relationships for an hour; weirdest interview I ever gave."
analogpixel··on Ferrari Luce
thanks for putting into words what I was thinking as I was scrolling down the page.
analogpixel··on He Lost It at the Movies
The thing about summaries is they should give you enough information to tell you what you are about to read, and if that would be something you are interested in pursing. It gives your brain some context of something to latch onto when you start reading.

"He Lost It at the Movies" means nothing to me, and even after I knew what the article was about still means nothing to be, it's no more than click bait. The summary on the other hand, gives you enough context to know what the writer was even trying to write about.

analogpixel··on He Lost It at the Movies
The post with the random hostnames was ranked higher than this post of "intelligently meaningful words", so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

also taking: "suggesting that writing as whole has no more value than a random list of words" from me just saying it'd be nice to know what I was reading before I spent the time reading it seems kind of melodramatic.

analogpixel··on He Lost It at the Movies
I guess you are not alone in wanting to fill you mind with random bits of nothing; https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48269580 <-- here is an article voted up that is just a list of random host names with no context to anything else.
analogpixel··on Don't Roll Your Own

agreed, that page decided they needed to write their own scrolling logic and it made the page horrible.

analogpixel··on FBI director's Based Apparel site has been spotted hosting a 'ClickFix' attack
For people that can't grok the title and the article like me:

- BasedApparel.com is a website owned by a person that happens to be the FBI director now. (he owned it before he became the director if it matters)

- The website BasedApparel.com was hacked and the hackers added a malicious click here to verify you are human section that tried to have you download a malicious payload if you were on macos.
