amq··on 12% of Upwork users are bots
Most of the job applications are written by "pre-LLM" scripts which fail at the simplest checks like "start with word if you are not a bot".

As a result, I rarely even read them and just try to look at profiles and have video calls.

amq··on OpenWRT turns 20; wants to launch their "first upstream supported" design
Having a reasonably powerful router from 2016, the only thing that would motivate me to upgrade is Wi-Fi 6E (6 GHz).
amq··on Pixel 8 leak promises 7 years of OS updates
I'm writing this on a pixel right now and I wish success to pixel, but I would bet that google won't provide 7 years of major android updates. It will be 4-5 years tops, and then they will just notify people about discontinuing it like with pixel pass.
amq··on Intel Meteor Lake Architecture
You can easily limit the power to 25W. Most manufacturers typically have a silent mode which does exactly that.

Not sure what you mean by many slow cores, since mobile zen 4 has a better single-core performance than m2 pro.

amq··on Intel Meteor Lake Architecture
The latest mobile amd zen 4 has a comparable efficiency* to apple m2 despite not being arm or having hybrid architecture. See 7840U.

* Within up to 15% at 25W.

amq··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
What is the primary login method? Because I'm using SSO, and it still requires a master password.
amq··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
What are you using then? Because Bitwarden also requires an additional secret.
amq··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
I'm still looking for a product that offers a completely passwordless SSO and has a good and simple UI (keeweb, anyone?)

Unfortunately, Bitwarden fails at both.

amq··on Microsoft is using malware-like pop-ups in Win11 to get people to ditch Chrome
Instead of focusing on making a browser that people want to use, Microsoft keeps adding bloat and harassing users. It's really sad to see, because I liked the minimalism and speed of the original Edge, and I even used to recommend the Chromium Edge to friends and family as a less intrusive Chrome alternative.
amq··on Power Consumption of JPEG, WebP, and AVIF
Would be interesting to additionally see JPEG XL.
amq··on Why do people seem to prefer Chrome's devtools over Firefox's?
Can you modify and resend a request in Chrome yet?
amq··on Russia Starts Blocking VPN Protocols
How does blocking VPNs prevent this?

amq··on Modern Transactional Stack
The end game is normal credentials with row level security.
amq··on Master Plan Part 3
You don't seem to consider a few things:

- Why not build wind where there are natural strong winds and solar where there is naturally a lot of sun?

- Solar is more modular - you can have one panel on a residential house, and you can have thousands of panels in a farm. But you can't have wind turbines in residential areas.

- Costs.

- We don't need a single 100% reliable source (none is), we need a clever combination of sources to achieve 100% together with the lowest total cost per energy unit.

amq··on Comparing K3s with vanilla Kubernetes
In my experience, helm is the worst offender. Somehow, every second chart update has a breaking change preventing the update, defaults that don't mind wiping the persistent volume and a discontinued somewhat consistent 'stable' central repo make me seriously regret using helm charts for anything that is not ephemeral.
amq··on Twitter's Recommendation Algorithm
Surprised no one mentioned this:

    s.SpaceSafetyLabelType.MedicalMisinfo -> MedicalMisinfo,
    s.SpaceSafetyLabelType.GenericMisinfo -> GenericMisinfo,
    s.SpaceSafetyLabelType.DmcaWithheld -> DmcaWithheld,
    s.SpaceSafetyLabelType.HatefulHighRecall -> HatefulHighRecall,
    ...
    s.SpaceSafetyLabelType.UkraineCrisisTopic -> UkraineCrisisTopic,

amq··on Show HN: GPT Repo Loader – load entire code repos into GPT prompts
Most of the software will be GPT itself.

amq··on Apple attempting to stop investigation into its practices involving browsers
I'm using Firefox on my Windows, Mac and Android, and I don't remember when was the last time that I had to open Chrome.
amq··on The situation at LastPass may be worse than they are letting on
No, because I cannot save arbitrary secrets there and I cannot share passwords with the team.
amq··on The situation at LastPass may be worse than they are letting on
I so much wish Google would provide a password manager within Workspace. I'm yet to find a trustworthy frictionless product for my business.
amq··on Show HN: FrankenPHP, an app server for PHP written in Go
PHP-FPM has been extremely reliable in my experience.
amq··on I ran the worlds largest DDoS-for-Hire empire and Cloudflare helped
CloudFlare forwards all abuse claims to the providers, so filling an abuse with CloudFlare is practically equal to filling it with the providers. The only difference is that you don't know who the providers are.
amq··on I ran the worlds largest DDoS-for-Hire empire and Cloudflare helped
I strongly believe abuse claims should be handled by the actual hosting providers behind CloudFlare.

amq··on Analysis of energy consumption of Bluetooth Low Energy versus Bluetooth Classic
Note that this is a bachelor thesis based on testing of a single product (Jody-W263). Probably shouldn't be quoted now as 'universal truth'.
amq··on Analyzing iOS 16 Lockdown Mode: Browser Features and Performance
Firefox on Android could easily offer something similar for the web part. Sounds like a quick win to get some attention.
amq··on The Deported
Except, it didn't. The 'referendum' was a farce.
