albuic··on Ask HN: Where to find open-source house plans?
Those might not be common in the US or in your place but are very common in others and are at least in the country I live in, because they are just an investment.

I have always thought that we need a way to add firewall rules on ISP side so that we can block abuse at the origin without impacting the last device.

For me, it's wired with any technology that gives power and network over the same wire so that I can forget the thing when setup (no wireless issue and connection problem) and it doesn't stop working because your router is down.

"git worktree list" is your friend ;-)

You too should check worktree. (See my other comment)

This is a good use case of git worktree.

> I didn't know about git worktrees though! I'm going to read up on this.

Indeed, you will like it.

The only limitation is that you cannot checkout the same branch in multiple worktree.

Password manager database are almost standardised for open source products.

> I've never seen or heard of a site that actually did that.

Protonmail maybe ;-)

albuic··on Not Getting Hacked
The goal of a password manager is to use random password, one generated for each website, so that if one is leaked... Well, nothing more ! So having autofill is a good feature.
albuic··on Not Getting Hacked
It works well for me, you just need to synchronize your password manager's file once in a while. Are you really creating that many accounts ? And you can use anything even cloud providers to easily synchronize the single file.

I don't use cloud password managers, history has shown it is too risky.

albuic··on Ask HN: You have one shot to redesign the Internet – what do you change?
You might have missed the "from B to A" in the parent comment which is quite important. Moreover governments have other (legal) ways to silence users.
albuic··on Backdoored password manager stole data from as many as 29K enterprises
It does not. It shows the failure of one ONLINE and CLOSED SOURCES password manager. Both of those can and should be avoided.

If you give me 30 bitcoins I will even give you a free pizza and deliver them almost anywhere. Joke appart, it is effectively useless for now but some places are now accepting it which means that the usefulness might change sooner than we expect. It doesn't mean the seller won't be able to locate you with the address for the delivery though. Real problem will be if they use Monero or some real anonymous cryptocurrency where fungability is respected.

> This raises a more generic question: What's the proper upgrade path for hardware authentication tokens?

This is the reason why I'm still using only a password manager. I agree that a hardware token more security but the lost/stolen/change key problem is really not easy right now.

I hope there will be a new common API to change all enrollment you have done but it seems hard as the key don't even know them.

Maybe in a future version ?
