albatrosstrophy··on Slow Money Movement
Mind sharing what slow money movement exactly is?
albatrosstrophy··on Muslims can't trade crypto, says the head of Sharia compliance
I should just point out that this is the view of one body. There are many others out there (including established ones) that support crypto trading.
albatrosstrophy··on Would You Manage 70 Children and a 15-Ton Vehicle for $18 an Hour?
What's the difference between driving with and without kids?
albatrosstrophy··on TQQQ is up 7,298% in 10 years – you don’t want it (2020)
Couldn't find the answer on Google. What's an XIV moment? I know it's something bad but what's the origin of the phrase.
albatrosstrophy··on Packages dumped in wrong lobby, resident tried harder to correct it than Amazon
So the FBA seller's going to bear the cost of courier mistake? This doesn't make sense.
albatrosstrophy··on The intellectual incoherence of cryptoassets
I get where you're coming from, but two wrongs don't make a right - pointing out that the fiat system is broken is a red herring of sorts.

Having said that, I think the author is far too pessimistic in his outlook. The fact that cryptocurrencies are physically intangible does not simply mean it is invaluable. One can speculate that digital assets are like tulips, but what the dot com bubble taught us is that tech is here to stay. And who is to say that humans will not ascribe value to digital coins to last into the next millennium? This is coming from a believer in the gold standard.

albatrosstrophy··on Apple: Ten Years Forward
If Apple keeps producing devices that dominate others (long battery life and actually functional ports in MacBook are two recent examples) then they're good in the near future. But in the long run, is Apple going into healthcare or am I reading too much into the piece?
albatrosstrophy··on Hertz orders 100k Teslas
Exactly what so many people are missing. Unlike other car companies, Tesla run almost the whole value chain themselves, from software to hardware. In a way, they're an amalgamation of Blackberry and GM and Exxon and whatever in between. And they're also going into AI robots and home solar.

While these may be hits or misses, they underline the immense market penetration of Tesla. They're not just cars, which is why many investors project a much higher valuation for them in the coming years.

albatrosstrophy··on Facing sky-high connection fees, rural Ontarians go off the grid
Also he mentioned they have to run on propane in winter. I wonder how much would that cost.
albatrosstrophy··on Who reads digitised Malay manuscripts?
Not sure how true this is, but in Singapore I've heard that the only use for Jawi left is in the weekly Friday sermon (I just checked - weekly khutbahs are uploaded weekly in Jawi). It's a very critical aspect of making language relevant. Unfortunately I doubt this will continue for long, especially as senior religious leaders (who grew up reading Jawi) eventually pass.
