if they're using hashed emails for tracking, we're pretty much clucked. There is an option in gmail that can prevent this.

if your email is abcd@gmail.com, use abcd+sitename@gmail.com (gmail will ignore the stuff after the + ). You can also use . separators.

Thanks for the feedback. My initial target is small/medium web app developers and not so much the big guys (yet). At this stage, some A/B & design saavy is required and not fully eliminated. There's a lot of demo possibilities (one that comes up very often - eat your own dogfood much?) which I think will improve conversions.

Depends on the tests. However a point to note is that this is not classical testing followed by hard-coded values. It's more like a multi-armed bandit-type optimization.

Buffer does that,too. They annotate onto the existing DOM when HN is detected.

How did you generate the graphs?

* 1. indicate somewhere on the top/menu if you've read enough to start publishing

* 2. I like the header (very clean)

* 3. save button should publish and then show the post you created rather than a message

* 4. walkthru would be nice

Signed up and tried it out. Some feedback:

1. a better way of presenting the linked accounts (the small yellow icons are not easily readable). a flat list without the tabs,maybe?

2. the notifications need to be such that they don't push down content. not really a bad thing but somewhat irritating

3. shouldn't sharing be on by default when I link my account (twitter) ? couldn't figure out what the yellow power button meant till I clicked and found out.

4. the follow button above my twitter widget in the link account area shows @SGforums... no idea who that is and why it's there.

in chrome, right-clickon the update area --> inspect element --> set display:none --> left with only footer.

Assuming this is an app that tracks favors for the sole reason of saying "you owe me one", I wouldn't use it for friends. gives off a cold & calculating vibe. Maybe track something else like "help me do this": you say you need help with X and your friends pitch in. I'd feel much better helping my friends out. just don't keep score.

No screenshots? some more info would be nice.

isn't there a name for that? something like diffusion of responsibility. the same reason we don't help one person in trouble when there's more than one potential helper...

how about the recipients? If they had an email from you before (part of the 5K set), then might be more open to replying to the second one (in the 2k set) even if Alex was not on cc out of guilt?

Is the content being mailed the same? are you mailing the same people again before and after alex was created? are you split-testing -- 1/2 recipients get the email without alex in CC? You might need some more experiments to attribute it to pure CC.
