How does this work? You have no real control over what the browser does when it closes a tab.

Thank you!

adithyassekhar··on AskHN:How do you handle skill atrophy from using coding agents?
Often times I find agreeing to the stack the model suggests is the right option. It’s probably most trained on that.

> Requests go directly from your app to the Claude API; Apple is not in the request path and does not see prompts or responses.

I know this is from a developer perspective. But as a consumer this is just funny.

adithyassekhar··on How do you design a $30k electric pickup? Inside Ford's skunkworks
> They attach too much prestige and career to being "petrolheads", or simply working in the engine division; after all, that's the most expensive to develop and least easy to substitute part of the car. The EV transition threatens to sweep that all away. Probably most of the EU manufacturers won't really get on board until those people retire.

“Those damn pesky artists still painting by hand. We need to wait for them to die out to let the stable diffusion guys take over and then we will be number one!”

I know what I said. Engines are an art.

How are you planning on getting the dvd to show up in handbrake?

Edit: I thought I was making a joke, you really weren’t thinking about pc’s not coming without dvd drives.

adithyassekhar··on Uber's $1,500/month AI limit is a useful signal for AI tool pricing
This is a spicy take, unless the business is willing to face some down time, and I am hired to do exactly what you said, I’d never touch any line of code unless I absolutely have to. Different environments don’t help as much.

We tend to obsess over software quality when it’s the least important thing for a business. It’s just a means to an end.

I come to this website everyday. And each day I lose faith in humanity a little more.
adithyassekhar··on Using Git's rerere feature to escape recurring conflict hell
Do people really merge left and right between branches? Tell me if I got this wrong, this is how I work.

You got 4 devs. Each branched off from master. And we never merge from each other. Suppose 3 other people merged to master I pull it from master and fix only those conflicts. I’m not bringing your code into my branch unless it’s already finished and on master. If I need something you’re working on and it’s not on master when I need it, it’s a much larger planning issue.

If you have multiple environments before a stable master, do it only in one direction: feature > dev > staging > master. Don’t merge branches straight into staging or master.

I thought this was how everyone worked.

adithyassekhar··on A powerful new chapter for Windows PCs, accelerated by Nvidia RTX Spark
That is true. But to be fair, the exploits needed physical access to the device and Qualcomm also had their fair share of those issues. I believe actually trust worthy companies who ship both chips did actually fix those issues.

It’s the no name brands. And those are all odm devices which mtk already sold off. Talking about MT65xx era where you didn’t even need to unlock the bootloader for a flash.

adithyassekhar··on A powerful new chapter for Windows PCs, accelerated by Nvidia RTX Spark
> And Mediatek? Oof. I assume the SOC comes pre compromised out of the box.

If by compromised you mean “china bad”, mediatek is taiwanese not chinese. Same home as asus, asrock, tsmc, htc, acer, d link, adata, biostar, insyde, gskill, foxconn, realtek and many others. From the chip to bios in your pc probably.

If you mean quality, they make efficient and more powerful chipsets especially gpu wise compared to qualcomm. Most probably only know it from cheap chinese phones.

adithyassekhar··on A powerful new chapter for Windows PCs, accelerated by Nvidia RTX Spark
Skimmed through the page no mention of what spark is. Is it a new ISA? SoC with CPU, GPU and NPU? Or just GPU+AI?

adithyassekhar··on I think Anthropic and OpenAI have found product-market fit
I asked claude to generate a frontend and it made the same template. Same san serif and serif fonts together. Same colors. Same typography. Same layout and animations even. It’s wild how similar it is. No not similar it’s the same damn thing.
adithyassekhar··on I'm Tired of Talking to AI

adithyassekhar··on I'm Tired of Talking to AI
This is the result of having everything customised to you. I don’t know how old you are and I am not going to assume. I feel the way we live our lives, algorithmic everything tailored to us, we just don’t accept differences anymore.
adithyassekhar··on I'm Tired of Talking to AI
It hurts that I relate with this so much. I am wasting my 20s.

I see people who advocate for permanent wfh has plans with their social circle. Either already has a family or friends. Sucks to be the one trying to build a new life.

Btw, I don’t believe them a bit. All I see are rotten people who no longer speaks new things, or is a living instagram bot.

I am sure this was posted so many times before but someone should reverse engineer the windows 8 era windows phones. Those were ridiculously smooth compared to android and ios with just 512mb of ram.
adithyassekhar··on Show HN: Race to the Bottom
I thought this was good but then the questions never stopped, not a progress bar in sight, eventually when I clicked the ranking list, I didn’t care because it wasn’t based on my opinions instead I’m assuming based on all votes.

I really thought the author did something here.
