The benchmarks seems good but claude is way ahead in the real world because of their coding harness.

adithyassekhar··on How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs
That’s why I added “Results of” that knowledge in front of it. :)

But to be honest, an llm can also be the world’s most patient teacher who can conjure multiple examples if they ask it what was just written. I have seen people out of my field use terms only someone actively working in it would know.

Most people live without knowing how their cars, fuels, medicine, phones work anyways.

adithyassekhar··on How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs
People are comparing this to tech automating wood work, knitting, baking etc. That comparison is fundamentally flawed.

You still needed to know how to operate those machines. Where to begin, when to do what. Know what’s right and what’s wrong. They are just tools.

Something like claude desktop can help regular people build, a fully functioning, scalable and maintainable program on any platform contrary to popular opinion. These harnesses are getting that good.

Only reason people don’t do that is because they are intimidated. Regular people don’t even understand file systems. As soon as an Apple-like version of claude code exists that intimidation will be gone.

I have been writing code for 14 years now and everything I learned from my failures and successes someone else can get for free. Even newer paradigms these LLM’s can dream up.

Its the democratisation, of that foundation people put so much effort building is what pissed off everyone here. Including myself I’ll admit.

Results of all these years of hard earned knowledge are accessible to any random person off the street without any effort.

I use claude code at work, even for architectural decisions it can iterate small prototypes to validate. I still read code because I am old school but it can replace most people.

Are no one using these models outside web?
adithyassekhar··on How to keep enjoying programming in a world of LLMs
I’m not sure which group you consider worst but LLMs already does both. I can only vouch for Opus 5.5. It just needs someone to tell it to do it that’s all. And I am the most anti AI person this post is targeted to.

If you don’t mind me asking, how can a thing that causes disruption when it dies still not be considered essential?

They could always close off access claiming ai scraping. If reddit shut their api down now instead of back then they could have also blamed ai and no one would’ve been mad.

I keep getting distracted by the author's use of "like". I am not a good speaker, especially when commenting on trivial internet things. Yet even I can feel the author trying too hard. Should've kept this as a first draft.

This is impressive and something a human will never bother to find. But please stop saying Strix then did, Strix then went, Srix then this, then that. My monkey brain just can’t accept an LLM being referred to as if it is a living being with autonomy. It’s not. I’ll accept when we actually see AI models.

I guess back when software only came in disks that sounded good business wise. Today if I can get your source I’ll compile it, price a bit lower and publish it in a few hours.
adithyassekhar··on Apple Watch Series 12
The marks will fade but this moves away tissue and I never faced this with any other watch. The dome always pushes in, the strap will further push in when you rotate your wrist especially the sports one. I don’t hate it but I do believe this should change, I paid a good amount for this and I willingly put it away.
adithyassekhar··on Apple Watch Series 12
It is only been a week. Already not having the sensor dome on it cleared out the marks.

Still doesn’t feel as full. I can feel the two tiny bones on top much better than my right one. The skin texture is different where I wore it.

adithyassekhar··on Apple Watch Series 12
Yes I fell for the collect all data trap. I wore it around 18 hrs at most. Honestly don’t think its worth it. I don’t know what to do with all the data it collects. Doesn’t even have good watch faces to tell the time atleast. Find my phone was useful though.
adithyassekhar··on Apple Watch Series 12
My left wrist had formed an indent where I wore my se3. It was not worn tight, I tried different straps. In 6 months it looks like the tissue underneath has mostly moved away. I can feel my bone when I touch it. My right arm by contrast looks full like a regular arm.

Looked up apple watch indent reddit and I saw much more serious cases after years of use.

I’ve worn a samsung watch for a year it didn’t leave a mark, casio watches, none. Until apple fixes that weird dome shape never wearing one again. That watch is staying in the box it came in.

Edit: There seems to be people promoting other brands in this thread. Just want to make clear I do not recommend the samsung one either. Don’t want to be labelled as such. Just get a regular watch. Wear it when you go outside and take it off when inside. You were never using the mostly inaccurate health data anyway.

adithyassekhar··on GamersNexus and LG: Or why rooting your TV is a bad idea
I think the author took the wrong message from the video.

His arguments are all

- yes everyone does this not just lg; :)

- yes it can be used to track the user; but unless you literally go into lg ads hq, you can’t say they don’t

- they rooted to trigger this; well the os and system apps don’t need root, we need it to observe.

If the author is here please consider these as the reasons to why an LG customer would be mad.

- They did not knew LG has an ads subsidiary, whose CEOs and executives constantly go on investor meetings claiming “they own the glass”, “they own the living room”, “they own the network and devices” in the “lg household”

- if the above was said by lg tv division it would have still stung less. This was said by an ad company they didn’t knew existed nor did they agree to be associated with when they bought a home appliance.

Stop focusing on the technical details, look at the larger picture.

adithyassekhar··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
Does anyone know what setting effort means for models like these? Do they allow longer thinking sessions? Some kind of system prompts? What’s stopping someone from getting max effort output from low effort setting?
adithyassekhar··on Why aren't smart people happier? (2022)
It’s quite telling how most of us have had the same experience, proud of being able to ace without the effort, the smart but lazy comments, all ended up here on the same website.

I just don’t know what it is telling but it’s telling something.

adithyassekhar··on OpenRouter is joining Stripe
Route your LLM requests through the Stripe AI Gateway with an API call. Provide your prompt, model, and Customer ID, and Stripe:

1.Routes the request to the appropriate provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google).

2. Returns the model’s response to your application.

3. Records token usage for billing automatically.

4. Rejects requests when a customer has no credit left (when enabled for your account).

Does that mean all api calls to providers go through stripe?

Reading the justification for how much of a perfect partner stripe is for openrouter sounded made up, this makes it even better.
