Not really.. It's just as much of a country as my apartment is.

The artist in question has also had lots of media attention for his work depicting Muhammed (the prophet): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Vilks#Muhammad_drawings_c... The guy is a racist nutjob.

adisbladis··on Research shows how MacBook Webcams can spy on their users without warning
You still can. Just put a piece of tape over it.
adisbladis··on Fish shell 2.1
Yes, fish is not bourne shell compatible and never will be.

Fish is as the name (Friendly Interactive SHell) suggests an interactive shell. You should just set vim/emacs/whatever to use a bourne-compatible shell. It's one line of vim config: set shell=/bin/sh

I would guess the control systems and entertainment/navigation systems are separated for that very reason.
adisbladis··on What did the tech CEO say to the worker he wanted to automate?
Considering how far the research into EEG has gotten the line between you and the computer will eventually blur out.
adisbladis··on What did the tech CEO say to the worker he wanted to automate?
A thousand times yes! Automating away a lot of jobs as the economic system is now be disastrous, just think of Detroit at a very large scale.

"Wouldn't that be perfect if she could actually pursue her hobby?" is a very ignorant statement if you start to consider the implications of industry automation for all of the workers who have been automated away.

I believe that if we don't fundamentally change the economy through reform this will eventually lead to the next large revolution.

adisbladis··on Cubrid: Sharded, Highly available, Open Source, Free RDBMS
Do you really think so? Consider the scenario of a social networking site having one table for users and another table for the users posts. If the developers don't know better than to query all my 200 shards at once this will be a pretty major performance killer.

I can instead use my userid as my shard-key and just query the shard holding the data for that user which will be way faster.

Or even better: Iterate over the frames until you find one which is very easily solved.
adisbladis··on Nginx-1.4.0 stable version has been released
