access_denied··on Ask HN: When to listen to users & when not to?
These camps only seem to be opposed. How is the iPod nano not an iteration?
access_denied··on Apple doesn't owe you anything
Ah, yes, it should be: "This is the reason Macs are prickier than Windows PCs." (Jokes a fanboi.)
access_denied··on The 37signals Podcast
Because deep inside you are interested in diciplines like PR. This stuff really matters; to you.
access_denied··on Ninite: How we got 18,000 beta users in 4 weeks
Getting them to read the blogs - yes. But getting on the blogs is easier, if anything, because many b2b-writer need content. Consumer stuff is different, but doable. What about giving a limited amount of accounts for free, to the bloggers. Not the high-profile ones that get tons of stuff, but the "middle class" so to speak.
access_denied··on The New Microsoft Store launches with Windows 7
Q: What is exciting about a copycat store 'concept (unless you are a mall-geek, off course) plus an OS release that does not advance the state of the art in no way whatsoever? A: 0.
access_denied··on Psystar releases the software they use to install MacOS on non-Apple hardware
That would not work, because the Apple experience is a whole sum greater than it's parts. There is now way of having a "light" version of that on a Crapdell machin running under XP or so.

Also, your basic idea is already executes: iTunes for Windows.

access_denied··on Dirty Little Secret of Success
Ups, sorry. Huhm, well, maybe they "disagree"? I don't know. My guess is they don't get the conncetion between Zeldman's blogpost and your comment here. You posted something unrelated, they think. Or maybe you are just an asshole who comes over here mentioning a writer and his philosophy, go away with that book-crap.

access_denied··on Dirty Little Secret of Success
Putting the dumbheads who upvote to express agreement aside leaves us with the real reason to upvote: you want to highlight worth-to-read stuff.

I've read your text and frankly it didn't give me much. I thought the Heidegger == 'The existentialist datapoint interesting for my internal map of everything.

access_denied··on Gladwell: "Aspiring journalists should stop going to journalism programs..."
That's where he above mentioned "clear line of authority" comes in, I guess :-)
access_denied··on Ask HN: Is there a designer-equivalent to HN?
HN is not about articles? A List Apart is all about community and discussions. Dig deeper. It started all out as a mailing list, the site came later because so many list-members wrote good stuff. The ral point though: the people. The design-equivalent to HN is ALA, peoplewise. You know, those who get it et al

access_denied··on Apple declares war on the entire PC industry
I am an oldtime-A-fanboi. Netbooks are the first event that let me consider buying a PeeCee since when I decided to do A-miga instead of 386. And sooner or later I probably get one.
access_denied··on D. J. Bernstein
aguing about the best programmer is a smart move when seen as an exercise to find out what it is that makes a programmer good.
access_denied··on [dead]
On purpose?! By a company that chooses pink as the color for special edition Zune, to just name one example of demonstrable lack of taste? I don't think they are more subtle than, er, Yahoo or what about Tumblr... need I go on? Maybe in the head of one single advertising guy who wanted to.. but then again, how many advertising people know that GNU even exists? Let alone iterational humour.
access_denied··on Ask HN: Please review my app: Was it up? - dead simple monitoring
I was too lazy, but the idea is cool. If hassle-free this is something I would pay for (1 thing cam to mind: how can I trust your site is always on? explain this to your prospects).
access_denied··on Ask HN: What HN-like sites do you visit?

it was better years ago, but still..

access_denied··on Twitter is killing the newsletter
Many of us do it like that, thanks for spelling ist out. We are a crowd, here on HN.
access_denied··on Tim Ferris: Beginner's Guide to Lucid Dreaming
> The way I see it, if you can get 20% of the way to 10,000 hours just in your sleep, there's no reason to not be doing it.

If there is no downside to it.

access_denied··on Haiku
And no furries! Ahh, I love every OSS project that spares me another furry on my app launcher.
access_denied··on Properly Molding the Gamer Child

access_denied··on Properly Molding the Gamer Child
Playing Risk (ok-a-board-game-but-still) told me early on that everything happens on several levels (strategic, tactic, emotional ect) and you have to keep an eye on all of them (if you want to win).
access_denied··on Lambda the Ultimate on "Coders at Work"
I take away from it that real programmers do not have an emotional attachment to one or other tool/ language. They are interested to solve a problem with maths and logic and the computer and his language are just the butler; a layer that has to be abstracted away.

Obviously Knuth thinks that books as a medium are still valid. (I am with him on this one.)

I have not read the book nor do I have any clue about Leaper graphs, but for some reason he thought it could help to research this. How can this research / knowledge help? Maybe it's just fun, I don't know.

access_denied··on This Is How Total Destruction On Earth Looks from Space
The title is misleading. The link shows an albeit spectacular short movie from a vulcano outburst seen from space.
access_denied··on Company size: Big is back
It was meant as a joke. Well, I sunk my ship I guess.
access_denied··on Company size: Big is back
Are you stupid? Making money was not important in Web1.0 economics. That's why they called it the "new economy". Why I am even writing this?
