Criticizing is easy: what would you pick that is better?
you regex will match the whole line up to cat.
"Free as in beer" you get something, you don't have to pay. "Free as in speech" you have the rights to do things, like modify source code.
and later
"Free as in puppies" As in you get it for free, but it's gonna cost you later. Most open source software is like this, you get it, but have to invest is using/mastering/maintaining it. Of course, you have to invest like this in paid, software as well.
I think that would be correct, if ChatGPT doesn't continue to improve.
Given the rate of progress so far, most of us are expecting that there will be much more progress, and it will continue to add more value. This is where it becomes foundational.
Or Skynet :-)
Edit: even if the fault is not theirs.
What's the purpose of a recovery account, if you can't recover with it?
Fair disclosure: I'm not sure why I lost access to the account, but I had been planning on changing the password. There's a non-zero chance this was self inflicted. But it should have been recoverable.
Unfortunately, after this strategy became popular, Atari released updated ROMs, with much better targeting from the small saucers, and the strategy stopped working. I suspect this also invalidated the corner strategy.
I've many times seen web presences fail for small organizations, when the only person that understands the web set up leaves. With Facebook, that doesn't happen.
I'm sure there are services such as you describe, and probably many restaurants use them, and it's not obvious. But Facebook is the default.
When they put a trackpad on their wireless keyboards, then I'll believe they get it.
Can't put a wireless keyboard AND a trackpad on your lap, so literally every Apple wireless keyboard ever is useless to me.
The trackpad is an afterthought for Apple.
How many hours a week are you on social media, and how does that compare with the benefits you get?
A great choice in my part.
Not gonna click through to see if he understands he's still posting on a social media site.
Websites need to collect and convert users, somehow. You can use styles that are known to work, or you can go off and create something new that might fail. Unless your company's product is user interfaces, the choice is obvious.
I'm very interested in book promotion strategies. This article has nothing. It's about the author, the authors coworkers and their books. Nothing at all on actually promoting your books.
If you want people to read your work, it has to benefit them. If it doesn't, it won't get read or shared.
You can. But it's equally valid to look at the source and say "this should have been replaced long ago"
Which is really has, except for tiny markets.
No reason it can't be improved on drastically.
That's the scary part. He spends years building a channel and it can be wiped out in a day. He needs to diversify. Sponsorships/ads won't help, they'd die with the channel.
I'm not in this space, but maybe patreon? Does onlyfans do non-porn? Vimeo?
How does one minimize risk to this $150k/year revenue stream?
It would be interesting to see his revenue graphed over time. Pretty sure he didn't make 12k/mo for the first few years. Which means he's making more Than that, now.
Inexpensive (somewhat), easy to buy on line, always another kit to buy.
Take 3blue1brown. Fantastic content, but what ads relate? (Probably Lego, but that might just be me).
I'm pretty sure those videos take a LONG time to make.
I've been spending 15 minutes a day on 3blue1brown, and backing that up with khan academy.
I've worked through the NLP Demystified course, posted recently on hacker news, the same way.
Also learning Spanish on Duolingo.
For most of my life, I've done one thing at a time, obsessively. This year I'm going for the slow and steady approach.
