Xymak1y··on ProgressJS – A themable HTML5 progress-bar library
I can't seem to find a demo anywhere?
Xymak1y··on Show HN: Codewars
I ran into some bugs when testing, such as: http://imgur.com/B0VVnmn

The test will pass but I can't submit it, because the test doesn't pass. Meh.

Xymak1y··on Show HN: Visualize every GitHub push with Awesomebox
Right, so make 5 the minimum then and reserve certain words. I guess I can always use usernames such as "administration", "dashboard" or "profile", right? I believe setting a minimum of 6 letters is a questionnable approach to this problem.
Xymak1y··on Show HN: Visualize every GitHub push with Awesomebox
What is it with requiring at least 6 character usernames? Why does it matter to an automated system if I use less? I get that a username with only one letter isn't optimal, but I don't see why it can't be > 3.

Thank you.
Xymak1y··on TrueCrypt Master Key Extraction And Volume Identification
What does this mean for me? I have all my interal + external hard drives encrypted as well as my system drive.
Xymak1y··on London's first pay-per-minute cafe
While there are comments that mention getting drinks to go, I think 1.80 pounds are extremely cheap for spending time at a place, drinks and snacks included. I'd go.
Xymak1y··on Show HN: We made 1 app this year
The website's font looks bad for me on the latest Chrome, Windows x64: http://i.imgur.com/cN6tXNl.png

Gets better with zooming though, at 120 % it looks nicer: http://i.imgur.com/d0GkKcq.png

Xymak1y··on Show HN: Boxster - A better Dropbox client
What does this do? Does it map Dropbox and Google Drive to network drives on Windows (the image indicates so)? Is it a webapp? I'd love to see a more detailed explanation somewhere before signing up.
Xymak1y··on We wrote a CEO page and it works
Now it seems to work for me as well. Thanks for the update!
Xymak1y··on We wrote a CEO page and it works
The "products" page, however, does not work: http://www.rsync.net/products/index.html
Xymak1y··on Warning: Google Authenticator upgrade loses all accounts
Nice idea, but I hated the workflow of setting up an account - first I have to type in a phone number manually twice, which is easily readable from Android. I also missed an explanation why I needed to set up an encryption token rightaway (I get what the point is, I'd just much rather try using the app first without having to set up all kinds of passwords and credentials first).
Xymak1y··on Let's deploy via Git
Take Hetzner (large German provider) as an example - while they do offer managed servers and root servers, those are much more expensive. I'm not advocating the use of such products, but merely pointing out that they're still around a lot.
Xymak1y··on Let's deploy via Git
The issue here is that there is still numerous web hosts who don't grant you SSH access, so you're not able to set up any git repository there anyway and are still stuck with FTP. Hopefully this will go away soon, or at least more in the direction of Heroku and the likes.
Xymak1y··on Buy Stamps from Your Command Line
Very nice website.
Xymak1y··on Why are payment forms so complicated?
I've never had to fill out 14 fields for payment. Ever. While I agree this might be too many fields, I very much doubt it's the standard practice.
Xymak1y··on Show HN: Improved Personal Budgeting Web App
You should really consider using SSL for at least the sign-up and login pages. People are transferring personal data, after all.
Xymak1y··on Mac hacker attack reminds us why Steve Jobs hated Java
Terrible article. The issue at hand is the Browser plugin, and not the programming language itself.
Xymak1y··on Show HN: Fine precision sharing for multiple Twitter and Facebook accounts
The font for contacts' names looks terrible on Chrome+Win 7: http://i.imgur.com/OxR9JdX.png
Xymak1y··on FedEx bandwidth (XKCD What-If?)
What this calculation fails to take into account is that when you transfer data over the wire it usually lands in the place where it's needed to be. This wouldn't be the case if you still have to read data from fedex'd drives and copy it to their appropriate locations, which should take additional time.
Xymak1y··on Show HN: The List
Same here.

Xymak1y··on HBO comedy “Silicon Valley” – pilot script leaked
HBO is running some of the greatest shows these days, wouldn't you agree?
Xymak1y··on [dead]
I kind of hoped not to find this kind of crap on HN.
Xymak1y··on An iPhone lover’s confession: I switched to the Nexus 4
I love the process, but I've been having trouble with uploading. A lot of songs simply weren't uploaded successfully, and there is no way for me to manually upload anything in order to fix that. I have no idea if the uploader application does this automatically or if I'm just stuck with a bunch of broken songs.

Also I noticed some mistakes with generic album titles, such as "Unknown Album" - selecting an artist, then their album titled "Unknown" would usually play all the titles that don't have an album title, even the ones by entirely different artists.

That being said, it beats iTunes by miles.

Xymak1y··on An iPhone lover’s confession: I switched to the Nexus 4
If you pull down with two fingers (a bit counterintuitive, I'll admit), it'll open the settings app directly. You can also toggle the default notification drawer and the settings app by tapping the icon in the top right corner.

I chose to install Widgetsoid - it places a couple of toggles directly into the notification drawer. I never got Airplane Mode to work, though.

Xymak1y··on Show HN: Wifis.org - making WiFi networks 'social'
Seems to be easier to just give your neighbour the cash instead of sending it through a website.
Xymak1y··on Apple really needs two passwords, not one for everything
Are you talking about in-app purchases? Those are password protected. What's the point of password-restricting free apps?
Xymak1y··on Apple really needs two passwords, not one for everything
Great point. Easiest solution would be to just separate the Apple ID password and the Device password.
