You just know deep down whenever you touch JS or some other language that there exists a better way of programming.
Nonsense like this pretends to be wisdom but it's the very opposite of it and it has only one message: become more anxious because time is limited. No one will be helped by this, despite the gorgeous UI it's a filthy life degrading viewpoint that needs to be dismantled.
Avoid those that make you fearful and sad that degrade you back into disease and death. -Rumi
I may write a blogpost about this soon.
Same with Elon Musky, Phd not required but they won't even look at your resume without it.
"If you want, put in four years at a college (or more at a graduate school). This will give you access to some jobs that require credentials, and it will give you a deeper understanding of the field, but if you don't enjoy school, you can (with some dedication) get similar experience on your own or on the job. In any case, book learning alone won't be enough"
It's not if you want. Great importance is given to university degrees even at Google. I've lost count of people claiming education doesn't matter who have it as a prerequisite on their companies job pages.
It's just the mind's way of coming up with problems when there aren't any.
Becoming an dev good enough to pass a FAANG interview is orders of magnitude easier than becoming an MD.
It's like asking why do people become pilots instead of chefs.
Imagine saving someone's life as opposed to writing JS for an image app that provides filters. Incomparable.
Becoming a super nerd is unnatural.
What do you consider the paragon of Buddhist practice? Maybe I can check them out online. I've hung around DhO and people complain that Buddhist practitioners have more of an emptiness dryness aspect to them as opposed to lively joyous qualities of other traditions like Advaita. I'm not impressed with Zen masters. They espouse very dry rigorous qualities and they don't appear to me carelessly joyous and happy.
It's an incredibly depressing religion. The premise is basically get off the wheel(of samsara) and exist or cease existing in Nirvana and or keep suffering.
1) React boasts that is just JS but has arbitrary rules like don't use useEffect in loops.
2) Even after 9 years even the core features are not clearly explained. The authors clearly did not know what they were doing.
3) There is no in-depth treatise of the library anywhere. A tweet here and a tweet there or some blog posts which you can't even figure out if they are outdated. If you visit the docs you'll see the most trivial examples because anything more complicated and now you are neck deep in trouble due to state menagement.
4) See this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34142168. It's a mystery if useEffect is for side-effects or not. If you use any other well-documented library you will see things clearly explained in the docs. With React it's just hype based woo-woo. It is responsible for degrading web development into plug-and-play style of poorly written components glued together because the core idea is just bad.
If you consult statistical trends there's no reason for anyone ever to even feel any amount of joy. Either the economy is in collapse or headed towards a collapse. Either you are healthy and thus headed for illness or ill already.
We don't remember any of it because pain doesn't necessarily transfer to memory. I agree that death is like falling asleep and never waking up but you don't suffer hopelessly before you fall asleep. Many that are dying do.
My aunt was hopeless during the dying process. There were no singing angels, no great grace descended. It's not a magical experience, it's ugly and continuous suffering before you fall asleep and never wake up.
How could it no be, you will never see your children again. The party continues and you are abandoned for forever.
In the teach world, if you didn't blog about it you don't know it.
The reason I asked is because 99/100 this is fixable. The vast majority of people don't assume only the worst from middle aged men. The reason he mentioned that in particular could also mean that a lot of the anxiety is caused by depression and does not reflect the reality.
Gets your blood flowing. Definitely that would've been preferable than just sitting at home idly playing video games and becoming more and more depressed.
