We ignore the people that actually feed us (farmers), and instead we focus all our energy on the people that feed us bullshit (Elon M.).
Having everything society has to offer actually makes you dull and miserable, and depressed.
I can fully understand your sentiment too. I not have always lived in Scandinavia. But sadly now I can fully relate to the author too.
I have come to both conclusions on my own too... Is it better to live in competition to avoid thinking... Or... Is it better to derive joy form external factors: family, craft, nature.
I have no good answer but love where the discussion is going.

Trucks, tractors, planes, ships. Sure consumer cars will be EV but ICEs are not going anywhere

You can secure ur gold physically very well, fires and natural disasters short of volcano, yet it is easy to steal it at gunpoint.
Crypto is hard and cumbersome to secure ( paper keys, hw Wallets), yet very hard to steal at gunpoint.

Also there is plenty of anecdotal evidence especially in IT of highly successful career women that would drop everything just to have have children.
All these brilliant minds working for so long and accomplishing so much... Just for a clap and cheer, yet tommorow they have to do it all again in the rat race. Yet cryptokings are basking in glory for a lifetime.
Alot of the same can be said about many startup ceos.

If you work in wall-mart your lunch is not paid. If you are the CEO of wall-mart you can expense a 2000 USD lunch and call it a buissness meeting.
If your job is number collection (realestate, banking, etc ) it is an addiction just like hoarding, the more you do it the more bigger number you want.
We should start shaming people for hoarding money just like we shame the poor for collecting toilet paper.
Working 12 hours as a CEO is not comparable to 12 hours shift in the factory.
Elon was lucky to be born in a rich family. Made his first 100k before 18.
Felix was lucky to be born in time to ride that hippie wave.
Just like some people were lucky to throw money on bitcoin in 2010~2015.
Still more should be a credited to chanse and luck.

Office productivity is directly corrolated to the coffe machine. The moment that breaks down everything stops. Coincidence, or are we all addicted to a drug?

I smell number fuckery here...
1-Prime minister is a thug and soon to assume dictators role.
2- Population is in HEAVY decline, unlike most places.
3- Most of the educated people emigrate abroad, and never return, in result the remaining population is mostly in "risk group" .. but it is not a group if its most.
4- 10% of the population (romes), do not count as Bulgarian and will not be vaccinated, so that is also a huge problem.
And most of these factors are due to culture/mentality problems, that stem from within.
So yeh. Bulgaria is not comparable to other countries
What I mean is that sex is easier to reach for than food when a person is bored.
Just like heroin is more potent than aspirin.
Also it has been proven that both sex and heroin stimulate pleasure parts of the brain.
1- the threat of Covid is not going away in the next 2-3 years. I am no risking it!
2- I and everyone in my team have been more effective, less stressed working from home for more than a year now. Why would I go back to a less efficient way of work?
You could argue the same about entertainment. But seeking it is not a prime directive on an organic level opposed to reproduction.
